MINUTES
I. Call to Order: 4:02PM
II. Roll Call:
A. Members present: William Ashcraft, David Carranco, James Hernandez, Doug John
McMullan, Lyndon Smiling, Paul Cervantes, Robert Sandate.
B. Members absent: none
C. A quorum was established.
III. Public Comments
➢ None
IV. Gene Delauro, Building Official, gave an overview of Electrical Advisory Board's authority with
respect to City -registered electrical contractors.
V. Discussion and Possible Action regarding allegations against City -registered electrical
contractors operating in violation of Section 14-205 of the City's municipal code.
A. The board reviewed complaints against the following companies:
1. Platinum Electric Services
1. Motion to bring company in for a hearing made by Lyndon Smiling;
seconded by Paul Cervantes. Motion passed unanimously with Robert
Sandate abstaining.
2. Lamplighter Electrical Contractor
1. Motion to bring company in for a hearing made by Lyndon Smiling;
seconded by Paul Cervantes. Motion passed unanimously with Robert
Sandate abstaining.
3. Gonzalez Electric
1. Motion to bring company in for a hearing made by William Ashcraft;
seconded by Lyndon Smiling. Motion passed unanimously with Robert
Sandate abstaining.
4. A & S Electrical
1. Motion to bring company in for a hearing made by John McMullan;
seconded by James Hernandez. Motion passed unanimously with Robert
Sandate abstaining.
5. Zeller Electric Co., Inc.
1. Motion to bring company in for a hearing made by James Hernandez;
seconded by John McMullan. Motion passed unanimously with Robert
Sandate and William Ashcraft abstaining.
6. Powerhouse Electric
1. Motion to bring company in for a hearing made by James Hernandez;
seconded by Paul Cervantes. Motion passed unanimously with Robert
Sandate abstaining.
7. J. Anthony Electrical
1. Motion to bring company in for a hearing made by James Hernandez;
seconded by Paul Cervantes. Motion passed unanimously with Robert
Sandate abstaining.
8. Ace Electric
1. Motion to bring company in for a hearing made by Lyndon Smiling;
seconded by William Ashcraft. Motion passed unanimously with Robert
Sandate abstaining.
9. S & S Electrical
1. Motion to bring company in for a hearing made by Lyndon Smiling;
seconded by Paul Cervantes. Motion passed unanimously with Robert
Sandate abstaining.
10. Hino's Lighting & Electrical Services
1. Motion to bring company in for a hearing made by William Ashcraft;
seconded by Paul Cervantes. Motion passed unanimously with Robert
Sandate abstaining.
VI. Dates for Hearings
A. James Hernandez made a motion to hold Lamplighter's hearing on November 21, 2019;
William Ashcraft seconded. Motion passed unanimously with Robert Sandate abstaining.
B. Lyndon Smiling made a motion to hold Powerhouse's hearing on November 21, 2019;
James Hernandez seconded. Motion passed unanimously with Robert Sandate abstaining.
C. William Ashcraft made a motion to hold Hino's hearing on November 21, 2019; Lyndon
Smiling seconded. Motion passed unanimously with Robert Sandate abstaining.
D. James Hernandez made a motion to hold Zeller's hearing on January 16, 2020; Lyndon
Smiling seconded. Motion passed unanimously with Robert Sandate abstaining.
E. James Hernandez made a motion to hold Platinum's hearing on January 16, 2020; Paul
Cervantes seconded. Motion passed unanimously with Robert Sandate abstaining.
F. Lyndon Smiling made a motion to hold J. Anthony's hearing on January 16, 2020; Paul
Cervantes seconded. Motion passed unanimously with Robert Sandate abstaining.
G. The board agreed to schedule further hearings at a later date.
