SPECIAL PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
COUNCIL CHAMBERS - CITY HALL

Chairman Mims called the meeting to order at 6: 35 p.m. and
stated that this was a work session for the Commission to adopt its
recommendation for funding to be forwarded to the City Council for
the Fiscal Year 1992 Community Development Block Grant Program.
Considerable discussion followed regarding the projects
submitted for funding and the Staff's recommendations. The
Commission formulated the following recommendation to the City
Council: _

The Commission recommended the following projects be funded as
stated above; additionally, improvements were prioritized for each
of the projects.
Recreational Facilities Handicap Accessibility - (1) Cole Park
sidewalks (Kids Place) , (2) West Guth Park, and (3) Garden Center.
South Bluff Park - (1) construction of new handicap accessible
restrooms and (2) replacement of tables and BBQ pits in picnic
areas.
Westside Little League - project renovation of little league
field with major repairs such as lighting for both fields,
bleachers and miscellaneousnecessary repairs prioritized by the
League and Staff.
Ada Wilson Children's Center - (1) generator, (2) air
compressor, and (3) boiler.
Boys and Girls Club of Corpus Christi - (1) a new commercial
kitchen, (2) installation of sky lights in gymnasium, (3)
replacement of the existing wall ventilation fans in gymnasium, (4)
replacement of damaged ceiling tiles and insulation throughout the
building, (5) replacement of interior wooden doors with hollow
metal doors, and (6) a new sand volleyball pit.
Tract 16 Neighborhood Council - interior improvements,
acquisition of vacant lot and construction of approximately 11-
space parking lot.
Tract 17/18 Neighborhood Council - development of playground
area; Staff should meet with the Neighborhood Council to prioritize
the playground equipment needed.
Commissioner Hall moved to recommend the FY92 CDBG Program as
listed above and forward to the City Council, seconded by
Commissioner Meinrath, and passed unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at
10: 15 p.m.
