Members of the audience will be provided an opportunity to speak during
the meeting. A recording is made of the proceedings. You must first identify
yourself by name and address. Then state your point as briefly as possible
when addressing the committee. Presentations will be limited to three (3)
minutes.
Any person who plans to attend this meeting and may need accommodation
is requested to contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (361) 826-
3147 at least 48 hours in advance so that the appropriate arrangements can
be made.
Minutes
I. Call to Order- Meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. by
Monica Rodriguez.
II. Roll Call of Members- Members present: Marie Partington,
Shirley Selz, Shirley Tipton, Isabel Odeh, Monica Rodriguez,
Martha Wilde and Debbie Crites. Ayd\or\, R, CA.n-tit,
III. Approvals of Minutes- Minutes were not available at this
meeting.
IV. Actions on Absent Members- No absent members.
V. Public Comment: No Public Comment
Please be advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the
Senior Companion Program Advisory Committee from
responding and discussing your comments at length. The law
only authorizes them to do the following:
1. Make a statement of factual information,
2. Recite an existing policy in response to the inquiry; or

3. Advise the citizen that this subject will be placed on an
agenda at a later date.
4. Discuss ways about fundraising for the Program.
VI. Beyond the Call of Duty and Companion of the Year Awards-
Mail outs for award nominations went out and must be returned
by December 15, 2011 deadline. Will meet in January 2012 to
decide on awardees.
VII. Christmas Party- Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 3-5p.m.
Decided on Salinas Catering to provide meal/dessert set up
tables, linens, Christmas tree and decorations. Entertainment
will be provided by Debra Henry. Transportation will be
provided to seniors. Igloo and milk will be provided by Debbie
for hot chocolate. Apolonia will provide pan de polvo. Also
decided, everyone will be eligible for a door prize.
VIII. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action:
1. No new business until after January 1, 2012.
IX. Agenda for Next Meeting-

2. Updates on Recognition Event plans and costs.
