Any person who plans to attend this meeting and may need an accommodation is requested to contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 826-3147 at least 48 hours in advance so that appropriate arrangements can be made. Minutes I. Call to Order: Steven Hensley called to order at 4:02pm II. Roll Call of Members: Present member were Carmela Quintanilla, Monica Rodriguez, Marie Partington, Apolonia Cantu, and Shirley Tipton;Absent member was Isabel Odeh III. Adoption of Minutes: Minutes approved for February 25, 2010 IV. Action on Absent Member(s): none V. Public Comment: No public Comment Please be advised that the Open Meetings Act prohibits the SCP Advisory Committee from responding and discussing your comments at length. The law only authorizes them to do the following: 1. make a statement of factual information, 2. recite an existing policy in response to the inquiry, or advise the citizen that this subject will be placed on an agenda at a later date. V. Presentation: Introduction—committee members, each member gave a brief introduction about themselves VII. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action: 1. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY-Designating the City Secretary as the Public Information Coordinator, so the board members will only have to view the 1 hour Open Meeting Act Training video, instead of viewing an additional hour of Open Records Training 2. APPROVED UNANIMOUSLY-Committee Member Terms: Carmela P. Quintanilla—2 year term Monica Rodriguez— 1 year term 3. DISCUSSION—Marketing and Linking the project(Senior Companion Program)with other community services, resources, including faith-based organizations—Advertising the program on "Domingo Live", and other media outlets. 4. DISCUSSION—Advise on volunteer recruitment, retention, and May recognition strategies. Goal—to have 60 Volunteers and 5 subs. Since Sept 2009— 15 new volunteers added and only 2 have quit the program. May Annual Recognition Event— 14 Volunteers needed. 1pm —7:30 pm on Thursday, May 13, 2010 Solomon Ortiz Center. Door Prizes needed, Looking for Sponsors—will be asking all the Volunteer Stations for door prizes. Possibly asking Flint-Hills, Valero, Citco, Thomas J. Henry, and Wayne Wright. SCANNED f VIII. Identify items to be placed on next agenda: 1. Finalize Volunteers and door prizes for May Recognition. 2. Recruiting additional committee members for this committee. Next SCP Advisory Committee meeting will be held at Museum of Science & History located @ 1900 N Chaparral 78401 on April 29,2010 from 3pm-4pm. IX. Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 4:50pm.
