Senior Companion Program Advisory Committee
August 3, 1993
Members Present: See attached attendance roster.
Meeting was called to order by Janet Neely.
Approval of Minutes : Approval of the July minutes was tabled until
next month due to a lack of a quorum.
Member Resignation: Ms . Neely informed the Committee of Mrs .
Guzman' s resignation. Copies of biographical information forms of
five potential Senior Companions were presented to the Committee
for their review. A phone poll will be taken to select one of the
above candidates to fill the vacancy.
Superintendent' s Report: Ms . Martinez provided an update on
Project C.A.R.E . and the WELLNESS PARTNER PROGRAM. Committee has
asked Ms . Martinez to keep them informed of both programs .
Coordinator' s Report: Ms. Garcia reported that the number of
Companions placed remains stable with last month' s . Review and
endorsement of the Project Progress Report was postponed until next
month due to a lack of a quorum.
Evaluation and Policy: A suggestion was made to create a summary
sheet highlighting all the changes made to both SCP By Laws and
Policies and Procedures Handbook. It will be sent in next month' s
agenda packet. Assignments for home visits were distributed to the
Committee members .
Recognition and Fundraising: Ms. Garcia provided an update on the
barbecue fundraiser. She asked the Committee' s assistance to sell
10 ads for the placard. Proceeds will be used toward barbecue
expenses . Mrs . Johnson talked about the Alzheimer' s Memory Walk,
she encouraged the Committee to help promote the event.
Publicity: SCP staff has reviewed and made changes to the article
which will be appearing in the Park & Recreation' s Fall Tabloid.
New Business: All new business was tabled until next month when
there is a quorum.
Ms . Bell moved and Mrs. Johnson seconded the motion that the
meeting be adjourned. Motion carried. SCANNED
