Senior Companion Program Advisory Committee
May 4, 1993
MEMBERS - PRESENT: Diana Bell,' Trinidad Benavides, Elda Castillo,
Alicia Guzman, Gail Hanson, Tommie Martinez, Janet- Neely, and
Alicia Ruiz
GUESTS: : Cindy Hawkins and Pat Hendricks
Meeting was called to order by Janet Neely,
Tommie Martinez moved and Trinidad Benavides seconded the motion, .
that the April 6 minutes' be approved as printed. Motion carried. •
Coordinator' s Report: Janie reported that her records agree with
the accountant' s, in' that the number of VSYs are on track with the
budgeted number. For the. remainder of:the fiscal year, Janie plans
to maintain the• status quo. Two new terminal ' patients were
received this past week, which may- cause the VSYs to rise slightly.
Janie also said she will be attending the ACTION SCP ,Regional
meeting in Albuquerque May 5-7 .

Evaluation .and Policy: In Mary' s absence, Janie reported that the
By-Laws have been - revised by the subcommittee to- . reflect the
increased size of the Advisory Committee and that the revisions
will be submitted to the Advisory Committee in June. Janie also
stated the income guidelines have been changed by ACTION and there
are other .possible revisions to the Policies and Procedures
Handbook which the subcommittee is planning to discuss within the
next few weeks.
Recoanition and Fund-Raisins: Janie announced that the Companions
who were unable to attend the Recognition- ceremonies were sent a
letter,notifying them of gifts to be picked up at the SCP office.
If not .picked up within 30 days, thegifts will be returned to the
volunteer stations . In discussing the FACS barbecue scheduled for
September' 18, ,Janie said the cost of tickets has been increased to
$4 . 00 and -the serving size of the chicken will be increased. The
FACS Committee is asking for volunteers to help cook the chicken
• the day of the barbecue. •

Volunteer/Station Recruitment: Diana reported that she had heard
from community people that the Recognition ceremonies were well-
publicized by KIII-TV. Alicia mentioned that the, Program is listed
in the newly-published United Way Info-Line Directory.
New B siness: Janie reviewed the amended ACTION budget as
submitted to ACTION. Committee also reviewed and endorsed the City
budget.
New Committee Members: Committee tabled the appointments of the
'four Committee members until next month.
