RSVP ADVISORY COMMITTEE JAN 4 2012
MINUTES
AUGUST 4, 2011 CITY SECRETARY'S OFFICE
The meeting was called to order at 3:10 pm by Sylvia Tryon Oliver,RSVP Program
Director. A quorum of members was present.
Roll Call
Roll call was conducted and members present were Donna Kinney,Jennifer Larivey,
Betty McDonel and Maggie Ramsey.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes were approved from the May meeting.
Overview of RSVP
Sylvia Tryon Oliver will submit biographies to the City Secretary's office for City
Council members to review at the September meeting so an appointment can be made
to the RSVP Advisory Committee board.
New Business
A Labor Day picnic will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Greenwood Senior
Center from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. commemorating the 9/11 National Day of Service with
a short musical program by the Veteran's Band. The theme will be red,white&blue and
paper goods have already been purchased by RSVP. Bingo and door prizes are needed.
Jennifer Larivey will be checking with the Q Pub for catering prizes and Maggie Ramsey
will also check with By the Bay catering.
Senior Corps Week will be from September 19—23,2011. During the Labor Day picnic
an announcement will be made asking for donations to sponsor a"Buck for Breakfast".
This is so RSVP can provide breakfast at the Mother Teresa shelter and also volunteers
will be needed to serve lunch at Loaves &Fishes. Senior Corps T-Shirts will be given
to RSVP volunteers who participate in the Senior Corps project.
Upcoming Events: Weed&Seed will host a"Back to School" event at Flour Bluff High
School on August 13, 2011 from 8am to 2pm.,RSVP will have a booth at this event.
TXU will have an energy make-over on August 18. The Face to Face conference will be
held at the American Bank Center on August 19,2011 from 8am to Ipm and RSVP will
also have a booth at this event. West Oso Health Fair will be held on August 30, 2011
from 4pm—7pm and RSVP will have a booth. The next casino trip will be October 19 -
21, 2011 and will be going to Coushatta in Kinder,Louisiana. A Halloween Party will be
held on October 28,2011, location to be determined.

There being no further business,Betty McDonel moved and Donna Kinney seconded to
adjourn the meeting.
