RSVP ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES CITYSECRETARY'S OFFICE
May 5, 2011
Call to Order:
Meeting was called to order by Sylvia Oliver, RSVP Program Director.
Roll Call:
In attendance were Betty McDonel, Maggie Ramsey, Jennifer Larivey, and Donna
Kinney. Not in attendance were Tony Lopez (excused), Herlinda Cantu (excused),
and Arthur Carrillo has not met since his appointment in February.
Approval of Minutes (for Apr 6, 2011)
Motion to accept the minutes made by Betty McDonel; seconded by Donna Kinney.
Motion carried.
Overview of RSVP Progam Events and Operations:
Sylvia Oliver discussed the upcoming events scheduled for RSVP. Next Thursday,
May 12 will be our biggest event of the year. The Annual Recognition event, this
year themed Senior Prom. So far, 160 registered to come, but attendance seems to be
down. Sylvia updated the committee on steps we are taking to increase attendance:
lower guest price as well as "Sunday best" attire instead of formal/semi-formal attire.
By Monday we will have a final count. Sylvia states she will turn in a count of 200 to
the Solomon Ortiz Center on Monday. Sylvia then went over the agenda for that day,
and gave an assignment sheet to the committee members to sign up to volunteer that
day. Maggie stated she can be there Wednesday in the afternoon to help set up the
room, and Thursday from 8-9 AM and then again 3-7 that evening. Betty states she
can help Wed and Thursday both, starting around 10 AM. Jennifer can be there
Thursday most of the day, and Wednesday after lunch. Sylvia stated we still need
door prizes, and Jennifer said she will get some door prizes if Sylvia will send her the
donation form by email. Jennifer will also pick up balloon weights from the Dollar
store. Next, we discussed the upcoming May 18th Casino trip for volunteers, going to
Lake Charles LA. Sylvia also informed the committee of the pending Medicare
Fraud Day for the rural locations, possibly to be held at the Richard Borchard
Fairgrounds or at Robstown HS. June 23, or 30th as possible dates, but that is yet to
be determined at this time.
Adjournment: There being no further business, the meeting was called to adjourn.
Maggie Ramsey made a motion to adjourn, Jennifer Larivey seconded the motion.
