CHAPARRAL, CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS MEMBERS PRESENT ABSENT STAFF John Marez Yalee Shih Gary Hansen Rene Cantu Charles Tamez Marion Loucks Rudy Delgado Miguel Rendon Drue Combs Mary Saenz Angela Cordova Rose Gunji Elizabeth Iglesias Ramon Lopez Elida Gonzalez Rachel Gonzales Minta Moore Toni Lucario Lucy Reta Sue Dulaney CALL TO ORDER- The September 13, 1999 special-called meeting of the Sister City Steering Committee was called to order at 6:10 p.m. ROLL CALL — The roll was called and the recording secretary announced a quorum was not present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES—No action taken. TREASURER'S REPORT — Marion Loucks, staff liaison, reported the balance of the Trust Fund as $2,932.50 and the balance of the General Fund is $19,886.00. Ms. Loucks informed the Committee they were due a reimbursement of $1,560.00 from the International Sister City Convention because the delegates paid their registration fee twice. With the reimbursement, the Trust Fund totals to $4,492.50. (Chair Lucy Reta rearranged the order of business.) COMMITTEE REPORTS Fundraiser Committee — Miguel Rendon reported "Taste of Sister City — Spain" fundraiser has been postponed indefinitely. (Toni Lucario arrived @ 6:15 p.m) • Convention Report—Rose Gunji reported the Sister Cities International Convention did not have many new sessions this year. Yalee Shih reported she learned more by speaking to other delegates than from the Convention itself. Monterrey,Mexico—Rudy Delgado reported the student exchange was successful. Keelung, Taiwan — Yalee Shih reported the exchange students from Keelung enjoyed their visit and appreciated the program. SCANNED Sister City Steering Committee Special-Called Meeting—September 13, 1999 Page 2 of 2 CURRENT CONCERNS -- Lucy Reta informed the Committee she has submitted a formal request to the Park and Recreation Department to name the IH 37 entrance to the City, Sister City Park.
