CALL TO ORDER— The regular meeting of the Sister City Steering Committee was called to
order at 6:05 p.m. by Chair Miguel Rendon.
ROLL CALL — The roll was called and the recording secretary announced a quorum was
present.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES — Chair Miguel Rendon called for the approval of the regular
meeting minutes of October 4, 1999. Sue Dulaney moved to accept the minutes of October 4,
1999 as written. Mary Saenz seconded and the motion carried.
TREASURER'S REPORT — Marion Loucks, staff liaison, gave a brief financial report. Ms.
Loucks reported the balance of the General Fund account is $18,127.58. Ms. Loucks reported
she could not get the balance of the Trust Fund due to difficulties accessing the account.
However, the Trust Fund balance should be more than $4,492.50.
COMMITTEE REPORTS —
Agen, France—No report.
Veracruz, Mexico—No report
Monterrey, Mexico—No report
Keelung, Taiwan — Yalee Shih reported she has been working with Channel 3 to see if
arrangements can be made to speak with our Sister Cities via satellite on New Year's Eve.

Toledo, Spain—No report.

CURRENT CONCERNS — Chair Miguel Rendon announced a signing ceremony between the
Port of Corpus Christi and Port of Keelung will be held at the Town Club, Crystal Room on
Tuesday, November 16, 1999 at 10 a.m. Dinner will be held at the Corpus Christi Museum of
Science and History at 6 p.m. Chair Rendon encouraged committee members to attend both the
signing and ceremony.
Chair Rendon asked Blanca Becerra and Alexander Heatherly to participate in the Young Artist
Competition subcommittee this year since both work closely with the CCISD schools.
Chair Rendon asked Johnnie Norman to assist in special events, such as, the Buccaneer Parade,
Bayfest, Folklife Festival to advertise the Sister City Committee.
Chair Rendon asked Sue Dulaney, Rose Gunji and Kathryn Barth to work together in the
hospitality committee. They will be in charge of making sure visitors from our sister cities have
accommodations and anything else that is involved with their visit.
Chair Rendon encourages the committee members to get involved with the committee and with
city events and help advertise the Sister City Program.
Chair Rendon also reported the Park Board Members will be having a meeting on November 10,
1999 at 5 p.m. to discuss the committee's request for the Sister City Park. If the request is
approved at the board meeting, it will go before City Council.
Yalee Shih reported at the Asian Cultures Museum there will be a "Festival of Light" featuring
authentic Indian food along with a dance performance on Nov 13, 1999. Cost is $25.00. Ms.
Shih also reported there will be a yo-yo performance at the Asian Cultures Museum on
November 12, 1999 and another performance at the Del Mar College, Richardson Auditorium on
November 13, 1999 at 2 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT — As there was no further business, Chair Rendon called for adjournment.
Johnnie Norman moved to adjourn. Alexander Heatherley seconded and the motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
