I. CALL TO ORDER — The June 4, 2001 regular meeting of the Sister City Steering
Committee was called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Sue Dulaney.
II. ROLL CALL—K Chute called roll, announced quorum.
Ill.• APPROVAL OF MINUTES—Corrections:
Ms. Jaime made a correction that she was present at the May 7, 2001 meeting.
No other changes were made and the minutes were approved as corrected.
IV. HEARING FROM THE PUBLIC—none
V. TREASURER'S REPORT—Mr. Ronnie Sepulveda reported the General Fund balance is
$14,366.92 and the Trust Fund is$2,691.20. The T-Shirt expense is$550.00.

VI. DISCUSSION ITEM—
Discussion on Sister City Peace Pole
Rose Gunji was absent. Ronnie Sepulveda states the Percent for Art allocation
was not set-aside. Therefore,that money is not available. Sue Dulaney said she
would make some requests from.the Federal Courthouse Judges for funding and
write a letter.to Park& Recreation Director to inquire about Percent for Art funds.

VII. INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS -
Sue Dulaney introduced and welcomed Melody Cooper and Frances Powell.
VIII. COMMITTEE REPORTS -
A. Agen, France— Lucy Reta stated that everything is going well.• She introduced Mrs.
Morales who was concerned about her daughter staying with a college student who
lives alone during the week but does visit her parents on the weekends. Mrs.
Morales has had additional.communication and_now feels assured that her daughter
will have proper parent supervision.
B. Keelung, Taiwan — .Yalee Shih has forwarded the student information to Ronnie
Sepulveda who will assist with the difficult email,situation.
C. Monterrey, Mexico — Anne Jaime states these two students are from low-income
^ families who will not be able to sponsor our students. Other Monterrey families are
willing to host instead.•
D. Toledo, Spain—No report. Elizabeth Iglesias and Dr. Jesus Rosales were absent.
E. Artist Exchange: Sue Dulaney states Guy Morrow is showing in Veracruz, enjoying
his mini-Mediterranean vacation and has been invited to also show his work in
Germany and France.
rri F. Veracruz; Mexico — Rachel Gonzales and Raquel Madrigal were absent. Ronnie
® Sepulveda said he has contacted them through the email and everything is fine.
G. Yokosuka, Japan—No.report. Gary Hansen was absent. After arrival, Gary Hansen
reported the student information has been sent but-there has been no reply yet.
H. 40th Anniversary with Yokosuka and the City's 150 Anniversary - Drue Combs stated
she had a meeting with the mayor who wants to plan his trip to Japan in the Fall of
2002. Drue Combs relates the 5-day trip is being planned with a 5-day extension
option.
I. Student Exchange Program — Ronnie Sepulveda relates to Drue Combs that the
entry reimbursement process for the students that were not selected has been
implemented but will act on this week.
J. Student Exchange Activities Report — Johnnie Marie Norman passed the Activity
sign-up sheet. Texas A&M tour has been added to the Thursday farewell activities.
Johnnie also stated there would be a tour of the Art Museum of South Texas instead
of a tour of the Art Center of Corpus Christi. Ronnie Sepulveda has asked the
Museum to waive the entry fees for this event.
IX. STAFF REPORT—
Ronnie Sepulveda stated the ticket cost for our exchange students travel is over the
current budget. Committee members will help Ronnie look for less expensive tickets.
Discussion of activity expenses and options was held. Ronnie is to design a tax credit
form letter for contributors.

X. CURRENT CONCERNS—
•- Mrs. Morales raised the question of training. The activity chairman is responsible._
• Sue Dulaney will call exchange students to verify they have current passports.
• Melody Cooper stated Alexander Mattei from Bolsena, Italy would like to develop a
relationship with Corpus Christi.
•:. Chris Barnes was absent, so Ronnie Sepulveda reported the business card estimate
is 500 cards for$36.00.
• Elizabeth Iglesias reported the TX A&M exchange program is in the planning stage.
• Lucy Reta reported-Mr. Cossio is the new Mexican Consulant. Sue Dulaney will _
contact him and introduce our activity.
• Yalee Shih requested a back-up sponsor for the Taiwanese companion in case she
is not able to host.
• Danielle Pearrell has received a request from a student who wants to visit and work
here. Sue Dulaney questioned the visa requirements.
• John Wright asked if anyone knew the deadline for the International Art Competition.
The date was not known.
