I. CALL TO ORDER — The July 2, 2001 regular meeting of the Sister City Steering
Committee was called to order at 6:08 p.m. by Chair, Sue Dulaney.
II. ROLL CALL — Recording Secretary, K Chute called roll, announced quorum.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — Corrections:
Ms. Combs corrected the minutes stating that Mr. Morrow was showing his work
in Toledo, Spain. Ms. Dulaney also corrected the minutes to state that it was the
responsibility of each Committee Chairman to contact their students regarding
their passports. No other changes were made and the minutes were approved
as corrected.
IV. HEARING FROM THE PUBLIC — none
V. TREASURER'S REPORT — Mr. Ronnie Sepulveda reported the General Fund
balance is $3,525.64 and the Trust Fund is $1,814.59.

VI. DISCUSSION ITEM —
A. Convention — Johnnie Norman made the motion to send Sue Dulaney and
Rose Gunji to the annual Sister City International Convention to be held July
26, 27 & 28, 2001. Rachel Gonzalez seconded. ($1,000 had previously been
designated for the trip). The motion passed.
B. Fundraising —A Research Committee was assembled. Lucy Reta will call the
meeting with Rachel Gonzalez, Raquel Madrigal and Frances Powell.
VII. COMMITTEE REPORTS -
A. Agen, France —Ms. Reta stated flight was delayed but students arrived safely.
B. Keelung, Taiwan —Yalee Shih was absent. Rose Gunji reported plans are ok.
Ms. Shih is requesting a host for the teacher's second week.

C. Monterrey, Mexico — Anne Jaime is working to complete the information
gathering process to help their students come from Monterrey. There was
discussion regarding the need for Tourist Cards/Travel Letters for the
students traveling from Mexico
D. Toledo,. Spain — Elizabeth Iglesias has not heard if Toledo will be sending
students to Corpus Christi.
E. Artist Exchange: Sue Dulaney states Guy Morrow was well received in
Toledo, Spain. He donated a painting to our Sister City, Toledo, Spain in
appreciation for his stay. His paintings were on display for three weeks.
F. Veracruz, Mexico — Rachel Gonzales states students know each other and all
plans are progressing nicely.
(Gary Hansen arrived at 6:15 p.m.)
G. Yokosuka, Japan — Gary Hansen reported that he has met with the students
going to Yokosuka. We will receive two girls.
H. 40th Anniversary with Yokosuka and the City's 150 Anniversary - Drue Combs
continues to solidify plans.
I. Student Exchange Activities Report — Johnnie Norman passed the Activity
sign-up sheet. A copy will be sent to all parents/guardians and committee
members. No meeting on August 6th. HEB Nifty Gifties will be used to
purchase drinks, ice, etc. for activities.
VIII. STAFF REPORT —
1. Ronnie Sepulveda reported that $350 dollars is left in the budget year-end.
2. Ronnie Sepulveda stated he needed all bills to be considered for reimburse
submitted to him by July 17th.
3. Tony Cisneros, Park and Recreation Director, has assured Ronnie Sepulveda
of the Percent for Art money for the Sister.City Parkway, Peace Pole project.
This project will be coordinated with the Arts and Cultural Commission.
4. Ronnie Sepulveda relates the intent of Tony Cisneros to reduce the size of
the Sister City Committee to about 15 members through attrition. There was
pro and con discussion. Drue Combs requests this item be placed next
agenda.
IX. CURRENT CONCERNS —
Rose Gunji related Elida Gonzales', long-time supporters of the Sister City
Committee, husband has terminal cancer. Thoughts and prayers were requested.
X. ADJOURNMENT — Meeting was adjourned at.7:03 p.m. by Chair, Sue Dulaney.
