REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2000, 5:30 P.M.

I. PRESENTATIONS—Reports were made by three 2000 Exchange Students:
Nicole Jenasek, Jason Parker, Kristin Garcia.
II. CALL TO ORDER — The October regular meeting of the Sister City Steering
Committee was called to order in the Committee Room at City Hall at 6:00 p.m. by
Ronnie Sepulveda.
III. ROLL CALL—Rosie Alaniz called the roll and announced a quorum was present. New
member,Danielle Pearell, and guest, Glass Yosaiko,was presented.
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — Ms. Drue Combs pointed out that her name was
misspelled. Rose Gunji stated that the minutes showed she was present at the
September meeting but that she was not. Ms. Drue Combs motioned for the
approval of the minutes as corrected. Ms. Dulaney seconded and motion carried.
V. TREASURER'S REPORT — The current balance in the General Fund is
$15,993.00. The balance in the Trust Fund is $3,275.88.
Vl. DISCUSSION ITEMS—
A. Election of Chairperson: Raquel Madrigal nominated Lucy Reta. Rachel
Gonzalez nominated Drew Combs; however, Ms. Combs declined. Rose Gunji
nominated Sue Dulaney. A vote was taken and Ms. Dulaney was elected. Ms.
Dulaney took over as Chairperson.
B.) Sister City International dues are$600. Drue Combs discussed issues relayed by
Mary Palko. Reorganization is being done at Sister City International. A motion
was made to delay dues and reconsider in April. Yalee Shih seconded the
motion.

VII. COMMITTEE REPORTS—
(Elizabeth Iglasias arrived at 6:40 P.M.)
Agen,France—received post-card from Robert Isaac. He is visiting the States.

VIII. CURRENT CONCERNS — Rose Gunji had some information on Peace Poles.
The poles are 6 feet tall and cost $130 per pole. Ms. Gunji suggested we get
one for our new Sister City Park. Ms. Dulaney asked Drue Combs and Rose
Gunji to work on it and report at next meeting. High school shops and Eagle
Scouts were possible resources for building our own pole.
Ms. Yalee Shih suggested organizing an activity sheet of things for the local
exchange students to earn points and help keep them on track. She also
recommended the students give a written report, with pictures, as well as an oral
report to the Commission.
IX. HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC - None
X. ADJOURNMENT — Ms. Drue Combs moved to adjourn the October 2, 2000
regular meeting of the Sister City Committee. Mr. Raquel Madrigal seconded
and the motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:55p.m.
