I. CALL TO ORDER — The regular meeting of the Sister City Steering Committee was
called to order at 6:04 p.m. by Chair, Sue Dulaney.
II. ROLL CALL — Recording Secretary, K Chute called roll, announced quorum.
(Introduction of new member, Ellen Murry.)
III. HEARING FROM PUBLIC - none
IV. VOLUNTEER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM —Joe Alley reported on his visit to Japan.
(Gary Hansen arrived at 6:10 p.m. Mufid Abudiab arrived at 6:23 p.m.)
(Introduction of new Assistant City Manager, Margie Rose.)
V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES from April 1, 2002 meeting -
Drue Combs made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Edna Balboa seconded.
Motion passed.
VI. TREASURER'S REPORT — Ronnie Sepulveda reported $1,598.48 was in the Trust
Account and $3,806.47 was in the General Fund.
VII. DISCUSSION ITEMS —
A. Discussion of Sister City Conference - The Sister City Conference will be held
in Toledo, Ohio from July 16th through 20th. Ronnie Sepulveda and Rose Gunji are
interested in attending. Discussion of finances will conclude at our June meeting.
B. Discussion of Fundraiser - Lucy Reta distributed the Taco Cabana coupons for
the Friday, May 31st fundraiser. Customers can eat in or take out from 5 — 8 p.m. The
coupon entitles the committee to receive 20% of the customers spent total.
C. Public Relations, Flag Report—John Wright was absent. There was no report.
VIII. COMMITTEE REPORTS —
A. Agen, France— Danielle Pearrell said there was no news to report.
B. Keelung, Taiwan — Yalee Shih stated the students had been selected but she did
not have any additional information at this time.
C. Monterrey, Mexico —Ann Jaime was absent. There was no report.
D. Veracruz, Mexico — Mannti Cummins was absent. There was no report.

E. Toledo, Spain — Mufid Abudiab said they were unable to contact our representative
in Spain. Lucy Reta volunteered to help.
F. Yokosuka, Japan - Gary Hansen expressed appreciation for the committee's
support of the VIP Exchange. Our students will visit Japan from July 16th — 30th and
the Japanese students will visit from July 31st — August 13th. Students will travel
together.
G. Sister City Travel Coordinator—Wayne Bennett did not have any news to report.

H. 40th Anniversary with Yokosuka and City's 150th Anniversary — Drue Combs
said the Press Release would go to the City Council on Tuesday, May 7th
I. Student Exchange Activities Report — Edna Balboa distributed the itinerary draft.
Discussion will continue as plans are finalized.
J. Art Exchange Program — Melody Cooper requested email addresses of museums.
K. Marketing Report—John Wright was absent. There was no report.
IX. STAFF REPORT — Chris Kallas stated that Sister City International requested our
committee member's information.
X. CURRENT CONCERNS — none
XI. ADJOURNMENT — Drue Combs made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
Gary Hansen seconded. Motion passed.
