I. CALL TO ORDER:
The regular meeting of the Sister City Steering Committee was called to order at 6:17 p.m. by
Chair, Sue Dulaney.
II. ROLL CALL:
Recording Secretary called roll, announced quorum.
Sue Dulaney introduced two Miller High School student reporters.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES from November 4, 2002 meeting:
Since there was not a quorum, the notation was approved as submitted.
IV. • TREASURER'S REPORT:
Ronnie Sepulveda reported $15,818.19 was in the General Fund. Mr. Sepulveda also stated that
City rules have changed and no longer allow for Trust Fund Accounts. Therefore, the Sister City
Trust Fund must be spent by the end of July 2003. He will report the exact total of the Trust Fund
at the next meeting.
V. DISCUSSION ITEM:
1. Nomination and Election of Committee Chairperson for 2003-2004
Nominations were accepted from the floor.
Judy Beckendorfer nominated Ann Jaime. •Valerie Ballesteros-seconded. Ann Jaime
accepted the nomination. •
Yalee Shih nominated Edna Balboa. •Rose Gunji seconded. Edna Balboa accepted the
nomination.
Anne Jaime nominated Melody Cooper. Ms. Cooper declined.
Questions of leadership were received from the floor and answered by the nominees.
The Committee elected Ann Jaime to Chair for the 2003-2004 term. •
2. Discussion on Wheel Chairs for Peace project.
This Sister City International Program was introduced to the Committee at their October
meeting. The Committee showed appropriate interest in the project. Sue Dulaney was
requested to continue her research to gather project details and report her findings at the
next meeting.

•3. Discussion on changes to the By-Laws.
The Committee decided not to make any changes at this time.
4. Discussion of the Sister City International Survey and Annual Awards Program
Chris Kailas distributed the Sister Cities International Membership Survey 2002 and
requested all members return their completed survey by the next meeting. Ronnie
Sepulveda encouraged any member with creative writing talents to come forward to help
with the composition of future applications. All members were asked to review the Sister
Cities International Annual Awards Program 2003 handout and consider what our
committee would qualify for. Discussion will continue at future meetings.
VI. COMMITTEE REPORTS:
A. Agen, France — Melody Cooper received a card from our representative, Mr. Robert Isaac.
He is out of the hospital and recovering at home.
B. Keelung, Taiwan —Yalee Shih recently visited Keelung and their Mayor. They have recently
formed 1-Sister City Committee. Their committee will assist with the Student Exchange
Program: The Mayor also said they were planning another visit to Corpus Christi next year.
Our delegate trip to Tiawan was postponed this year due to lack of interest.
C. Monterrey, Mexico — Ann Jaime reported changes in many of their government offices. She
is working to establish contact with our new representative.
D. Veracruz, Mexico—There was no report.
E. Toledo, Spain — Mufid Abudiab said he has emailed our contact and is waiting their response.
Melody Cooper is coordinating a delegation to attend the June 2003, Fest of Corpus Christi in
Spain. Elida Gonzales, a visiting past member, said Father Shirley and possibly others of St.
Pius X Church are interested in participating.
F. Yokosuka, Japan—Gary Hansen said there was nothing new to report at this time.
Ronnie Sepulveda summarized a thank you letter received by Sue Dulaney from this year's
delegation that recently visited Corpus Christi. It was noted that the Japanese delegation
gave a five hundred dollar donation to our local Salvation Army center before they departed.
G. Sister City Travel Coordinator—Wayne Bennett was absent. There was no report.
H. Art Exchange Program—Melody Cooper had nothing new to report at this time.
I. Young Artists' Competition - Rose Gungi stated that all the information had been distributed to
the schools. She will complete her follow-up during January.
VII. STAFF REPORTS:
Ronnie Sepulveda and Chris Kailas did_not have anything further_to report._ —_
VIII. CURRENT CONCERNS:
Sue Dulaney expressed her appreciation to the Committee for their support during her terms as
chairperson.
IX. ADJOURNMENT:
Mufid Abudiab made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Ellen Murry seconded. The
meeting was adjourned by Chair, Sue Dulaney.
