I. CALL TO ORDER:
The regular meeting of the Sister City Steering Committee was called to order at 6:18 p.m. by Chair, Ann
Jaime.
II. ROLL CALL:
Recording Secretary called roll, announced quorum.
III. • APPROVAL OF MINUTES from May 5,2003 meeting:
Randy Farrar submitted a correction of his name being misspelled. Elizabeth Iglesias stated her name was
left off of the attendance record. Corrections noted.
IV. TREASURER'S REPORT:
Ronnie Sepulveda reported $15,353.68 in the Treasure and $2,036.01 in the Trust Fund.

No public comments
VI. DISCUSSION ITEMS:
1. Discuss attendance at.the 2003 Sister Cities Annual Conference — Ronnie reported that registration
had been sent in for 3 people—Rose Gunji, Sue Delaney and Ann Jaime It was moved and seconded
by Edna Balboa and Yalee Shih. The motion passed.
2. Discussion on Mayor's trip to Spain —August 9 — 16, 2003 It was discussed that Judy Benkendorfer,
Sue Delaney, Rose Gunji and Ann Jaime were interested in being a part of the Mayor's delegation
visiting Spain.
VII COMMITTEE REPORTS •
A. Student Exchange Selection Committee — Judy Benkendorfer reported the itinerary for the
• exchange students coming to Corpus Christi. Randy Farrar reported on workshop session for
exchange students. Tables were set up representing each country to be attended by a student for
informational purposes. Students from last years exchange program was invited to speak to this
years exchange ;students on their experiences as an exchange student. Randy issued
informational notebooks to the exchange students.
B. Keelung, Taiwan—No Report.
C. Monterrey, Mexico — In process of student selection and host families. Pictures of our students
were sent to Monterrey.
D. Veracruz, Mexico= In process of student selection.
E. Toledo, Spain— No report
F. Yokosuka, Japan Pictures and background information of our exchange students was sent to
Yokosuka. Regis Barber reported that Gary told him that some City Council members, the
Chamber of Commerce and members of the USS Lexington Committee were interested in being a
part of the delegation visiting Yokosuka the last week in October or the 1st week of November. The
USS Lexington representatives are interested in developing a Sister Ship relationship with a
SCANNED
battleship from Yokosuka. Oil industry representatives have also expressed an interest in
developing a rapport with oil industries in Japan.
( G. Agen, France-Randy Farrar reported that France has found an even exchange of students for the
program and that France has contacted our exchange students.
H. Wheelchair Project - Sue Delaney reported $18,000 is needed to complete their goal. It was
suggested that the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce be contacted for support to the project. It was
also reported that any funds left in the Trust Fund as of July 31st would be transferred to the
Wheelchair Project.
VIII STAFF REPORT-NONE
XI ADJOURNMENT OF.BUSINESS MEETING-It was moved and seconded by Randy Farrar and Yalee
Shih to adjourn. Meeting was adjourned by at 6:51 p.m. by Chair-Ann Jaime
