2:00 p.m.
II. Staff Recommendations requiring Committee Review/Recommendations
a. Recommendations on converting Riverwood Road from a one-way to a
two-way— Mr. Cardenas stated that this item needs to be on the next council
meeting. In addition; Mr. Cardenas, informed the committee about the TxDot
project on the medians and the proposed improvements. Mr. Green
questioned the current configuration of travel on Riverwood Road. Mr.
Cardenas indicated that is currently configured northbound direction from FM
624 to River Hill Drive. Mr. Green mentioned that Riverwood Road does not
exit on FM 624 and Mr. Cardenas confirmed. Therefore, coming from the
north side there is no access to the properties on Riverwood Road because
there is no left turn signal. Mrs. Beard asked about the type of stop sign that
will be placed on Riverwood Road and River Hill Drive. Mr. Cardenas
suggested conducting a study on the intersection to determine the type of
stop sign needed. Mrs. Beard recommended a four-way stop sign. Mr. Jones
asked about the current speed limit on Riverwood Road and Mr. Cardenas
stated that the current speed limit is 35 mph. Mr. Green questioned the
classifications and the right-of-way of Riverwood Road and River Hill Drive.
Mr. Cardenas indicated that Riverwood Road and River Hill Drive are
classified as collector residential streets and the right-of-way on Riverwood
Road is approximately 65 ft. and on River Hill. Drive is about 100 ft. Mr.
Cardenas mentioned that the width of the shoulder on FM 624 is
approximately 12 ft. and that there is a proposal to make it a right turn lane
from FM 624 to Riverwood Road. Mr. Green asked about the TxDot island
treatment with a right turn only. Mr. Cardenas stated that there is a proposed
island to channelize the traffic coming out of Riverwood Road into FM 624
depending on the resolution on this issue. Also, Mr. Cardenas mentioned that
it will be a painted treatment. Mr. Green inquired if the treatment belongs to
the TxDot project or if it will be a City project. Mr. Cardenas stated that it will
be a City project. Also, Mr. Cardenas mentioned that it would be a good time
to change the order since Hass Anderson is currently working on the River
Hill Drive overlay project and that they can do the striping on Riverwood Road
as well. Mr. Green expressed his concern on u-turns and he stated that there
is no left turn signal. Mr. Green also questioned the opportunity for vehicles to
stop and then make a u-turn. Mr. Cardenas confirmed that there is not a left
turn signal. Mr. Green highly encouraged the traffic engineer to take a traffic
control plan to be presented to City Council. Motion made by Mrs. Beard with
a stipulation of a four-way stop sign at the triangle, a control traffic light and a
raised median at the intersection of FM 624. Seconded by Mr. Jones.

Ill. Public Comment - Mrs. Beard asked about the progress on Doddridge Street.
Mr. Green stated that he has visited the site with a construction engineer and he
encouraged a traffic engineer to revisit the site because the traffic is stacking up
on Alameda as drivers are heading towards Six Points. Mr. Green'mentioned that
the problem is because the street is being narrowed down toa one lane,
handling both left turn and straight ahead traffic. Mr. Green strongly encouraged
Mr. Beck to get with Mr. Cardenas to reassess this issue because is a dangerous
situation.
