Staff Recommendations requiring Committee Review/Recommendations a. Recommendations on converting Riverwood Road from a one-way to a two-way— Mr. Cardenas stated that this item needs to be on the next council meeting. In addition; Mr. Cardenas, informed the committee about the TxDot project on the medians and the proposed improvements. Mr. Green questioned the current configuration of travel on Riverwood Road. Mr. Cardenas indicated that is currently configured northbound direction from FM 624 to River Hill Drive. Mr. Green mentioned that Riverwood Road does not exit on FM 624 and Mr. Cardenas confirmed. Therefore, coming from the north side there is no access to the properties on Riverwood Road because there is no left turn signal. Mrs. Beard asked about the type of stop sign that will be placed on Riverwood Road and River Hill Drive. Mr. Cardenas suggested conducting a study on the intersection to determine the type of stop sign needed. Mrs. Beard recommended a four-way stop sign. Mr. Jones asked about the current speed limit on Riverwood Road and Mr. Cardenas stated that the current speed limit is 35 mph. Mr. Green questioned the classifications and the right-of-way of Riverwood Road and River Hill Drive. Mr. Cardenas indicated that Riverwood Road and River Hill Drive are classified as collector residential streets and the right-of-way on Riverwood Road is approximately 65 ft. and on River Hill. Drive is about 100 ft. Mr. Cardenas mentioned that the width of the shoulder on FM 624 is approximately 12 ft. and that there is a proposal to make it a right turn lane from FM 624 to Riverwood Road. Mr. Green asked about the TxDot island treatment with a right turn only. Mr. Cardenas stated that there is a proposed island to channelize the traffic coming out of Riverwood Road into FM 624 depending on the resolution on this issue. Also, Mr. Cardenas mentioned that it will be a painted treatment. Mr. Green inquired if the treatment belongs to the TxDot project or if it will be a City project. Mr. Cardenas stated that it will be a City project. Also, Mr. Cardenas mentioned that it would be a good time to change the order since Hass Anderson is currently working on the River Hill Drive overlay project and that they can do the striping on Riverwood Road as well. Mr. Green expressed his concern on u-turns and he stated that there is no left turn signal. Mr. Green also questioned the opportunity for vehicles to stop and then make a u-turn. Mr. Cardenas confirmed that there is not a left turn signal. Mr. Green highly encouraged the traffic engineer to take a traffic control plan to be presented to City Council. Motion made by Mrs. Beard with a stipulation of a four-way stop sign at the triangle, a control traffic light and a raised median at the intersection of FM 624. Seconded by Mr. Jones. SCANNED Page 1 of 2 Ill. Public Comment - Mrs. Beard asked about the progress on Doddridge Street. Mr. Green stated that he has visited the site with a construction engineer and he encouraged a traffic engineer to revisit the site because the traffic is stacking up on Alameda as drivers are heading towards Six Points. Mr. Green'mentioned that the problem is because the street is being narrowed down toa one lane, handling both left turn and straight ahead traffic. Mr. Green strongly encouraged Mr. Beck to get with Mr. Cardenas to reassess this issue because is a dangerous situation. IV. Adjournment— Meeting adjourned at 2:35 p.m. Page 2 of 2
