I. CALL TO ORDER
In absence of Chair, Vice Chair Neil McQueen called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL
The recording secretary called roll and announced that a quorum was present.
III. ADOPTION OF MINUTES
Regular called meeting-August 4, 2011. Jay Gardner made a motion to approve the minutes with
changes made. Cody Bates seconded. Minutes approved.

V. BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION
New Business
Possible Donation for Windward Parking Lot
A group would like to donate a chair, bench, or drinking water fountain to be placed at the jetties,
seawall, or Windward parking lot.The Corps ruled out the jetties, but they are still able to donate the
piece to the seawall or Windward lot. The group will need to put together a presentation to the City
seeking approval.
Sign for City Beach south of Access Road 6
Derek presented samples of signage for designated nursery beach area south of Access Rd 6. Signs
will state that the area is a natural beach, trash needs to be removed, and 4wd is recommended.The
sign reads"Showcasing the natural beauty of our beach while preserving environmental integrity."The
committee discussed ways to improve the signage making it easier to read upon entrance to the beach.
Derek will simplify the signage and send out to the members via email.
Skip the Plastics Update
Neil with Surfrider Foundation discussed their Skip the Plastics Campaign against single use plastic. Not
long ago, Neil made a presentation on Skip the Plastics, and WBAC agreed to become a partner of the.
campaign. Partners include Heart Research Institute, CC Pride,WBAC, Clean City Advisory Committee,
CC Marina, Marina Advisory Committee, Clean Economy Coalition, Corpus Christi Windsurfing
Association, and the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. Neil explained the program used in
Brownsville, Texas where they charge$1.00 per transaction if plastic bags are requested, and is hoping
to see Corpus Christi implement something similar. Surfrider Foundation will approach CVB, CCA, and
Chamber of Commerce to see if they would be interested in becoming partners in the program.
Surfrider Chapter Sign Proof
Neil presented proof for new Surfrider Chapter Sign. The sign instructs surfers of how to conduct
themselves safely while in the water. The committee made minor changes to the language. Jay made a
motion to approve the proof as amended. JoAnn seconded. Motion passed.

As there was no further business, Jay Gardner made a motion to adjourn the meeting. John Powell
seconded. Neil adjourned the meeting at 6:23 pm.
