CALL TO ORDER Chair, Jake Herring called the meeting to order at 5:33 p.m. II. ROLL CALL The recording secretary called roll and announced that a quorum was present. III. ADOPTION OF MINUTES Regular called meeting- May 5, 2011. Jay Gardner made a motion to approve the minutes with changes made. Neil McQueen seconded. Minutes approved. IV. HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC—none. V. BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION Old Business Packery TIF Questions- Natasha Fudge Item was moved up on agenda. Natasha Fudge with the City's Engineering Department provided updated information on the Packery TIF. Engineering developed a planning tool at the request of ISAC Committee. In the beginning of May, Ms. Fudge met with the ISAC committee and reviewed the TIF spreadsheet to get their feedback.All items classified as Capital Improvements are used to develop the CIP book.The Capital Improvement Budget for FY11-12 will be discussed at the upcoming council meetings.The primary focus is to finish the Packery six pack. Funds will not be taken from the six pack project. Phase 6 of the 6 pack will be completed in 2015 and Phase 7 will be completed in 2014. The committee requested the map and spreadsheet be sent out electronically. New Business Recommendations for empty Committee Seat Only one application was received from Jennifer Pollack. JoAnn made a motion recommending Jennifer Pollack to fill the vacant position. Neil seconded. Motion passed. Recommendations Sargassum Sub Committee Currently Neil McQueen, Cliff Schlabach, Hal Suter, and Derek Herzog are serving on the committee. The committee meets twice a year to go over the adaptive beach management plan. Jay Gardner and Keith Arnold volunteered to serve on the committee. JoAnn asked if there was a sargassum removal plan for Corpus Christi Beach. Derek will check with the Superintendent responsible for the beach and look into whether a permit is required. Jake mentioned Deidre Williams with the University might be interested in serving on the committee. 4th of July Update The CVB saw a good outcome as far as hotels, attractions, beaches. Hotel occupancy was almost 100% on Friday through Sunday. Beaches were in good condition.There were no major incidents. Minor incidents included jelly fish stings and sting-ray stings. JoAnn commented on the trash at Corpus Christi Beach. She would like to see better trash pick-up following busy weekends.The committee discussed whether County inmates can be used to collect trash in City parks and beaches. Derek stated they are not able to use inmates in City parks at this time. SCANNED Surfrider Foundation Sign The Surfrider Foundation would like to place warning signs for surfers at North Packery Channel Jetty. The sign will be placed on the railings of the jetty.They are currently looking for funding to purchase the sign. The total cost is$600. Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program may be able to contribute. They will need to use warning colors for the sign which are red, white, or yellow. Update on Water Quality Committee discussed contamination of Cole and Ropes parks. Members are concerned about bodies of water that are not used for recreational purposes are being listed as contaminated. Derek will contact Craig and let him know the concerns. VI. Staff Liaison Report No Report VII. Committee Concerns, Request for Information, Agenda Items Identify Items to be placed on next agenda The following items will be placed on the next agenda: • Sargassum at Corpus Christi Beach • City Maintenance Budget • City/County Interlocal Agreement Update VIII. ADJOURNMENT As there was no further business, JoAnn Gilbertson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Jay Gardner seconded. Jake adjourned the meeting at 6:28 pm.
