I. CALL TO ORDER
Chair, Jake Herring called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL
The recording secretary called roll and announced that a quorum was present.
Ill. ADOPTION OF MINUTES
Regular called meeting- March 3, 2011. JoAnn Gilbertson made a motion to approve the minutes with
changes made. John Powell seconded. Minutes approved.
IV. HEAR FROM THE PUBLIC—none.
Jake expressed concerns regarding the recent trash issues at Labonte Park. Since the City issues free
camping permits, he would like to look into the actions that can be taken to prevent the excessive trash
buildup in the area.
V. BUSINESS FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION
New Business
Suter Park Cameras Update- moved up on Agenda
Michelle Horrine with the City's Convention and Visitor's Bureau provided the committee with the details
on the Suter Wildlife Rescue Project. A top priority in the parks, is security. New cameras have been
installed to monitor the park. Signage will be placed stating there will be 24 hour video surveillance.
They are working with PD to have the area patrolled. In the future,the City hopes to make the cameras
live cameras. Part of the pier was also replaced, and a shade structure was built with help from Coastal
Bend Bays and Estuaries Program.A grant is pending to replace the other sections of the pier. Michelle
showed the committee samples of the new signage that will be placed throughout the park and will be
graffiti resistant.
Update on TIF
Derek distributed information on the TIF plans and financial details.The committee was asked to look
over the information.An Engineering associate will be at the next meeting.The committee requested a
map be presented at the next meeting.
Spring Break Recap
Derek reported a successful Spring Break. One major incident was a stabbing, but there were no
fatalities. There were no drownings or swim rescues.There was an estimated 6-7 tons of trash collected
throughout the week. Up2U bags were distributed to patrons along the beach.The committee discussed
the Beach Management Plan. It will be sent out to those who have not received it. Derek stated it was
one of the best Spring Break the City has seen.
Old Business
Update on Water Quality
Joanna Mott resigned from the committee.There will be a Scientist position to be filled, but cannot be
filled until after the election of Council Members.

As there was no further business, Jay Gardner made a motion to adjourn the meeting. JoAnn
Gilbertson seconded. Jake adjourned the meeting at 6:12 pm.
