The City is working on the"Gus"campaign. It is still in the planning stages with the PRIDE campaign.A
meeting has been scheduled to see how to incorporate"Gus"on the beaches. Currently, the beach
division has ordered 20,000 reusable trash bags to distribute to patrons on the beaches during Spring
Break. The campaign will be promoted throughout the year.
CC Restrooms(photos)
Derek Herzog provided pictures of the CC Beach restroom facility. The pictures show the condition of
the facility including the condition of the doors and the paint work.JoAnn would like the City to repaint
the building and change the color. She stated there is a new bathhouse being constructed near the
Lexington and would like to recommend the facilities be painted similar colors.JoAnn made a motion to
recommend to paint the bathhouse the lightest of the blues of the approved Corpus Christi Beach
colors. Neil seconded. Motion passed.
Swimming near Jetty Warning Signs
Derek stated the signs should be in tomorrow and should be installed before Spring Break. The signs
warn patrons of obstructions in the water, advising them to swim at their own risk. They will be installed
at the mean water line facing the beach 200ft from the jetties.
Beach Permit Citations (deposited)
The committee questioned where the monies collected from Beach Parking Permit Citations were
deposited. Derek informed them that the fines are deposited in the Municipal Court account in the
General Fund. The revenue for the Beach Parking Permits goes back to Gulf Beach Maintenance and
Safety. If a patron is given a citation, they are able to purchase a beach parking permit the same day
and show it to the person who issued the ticket to have it voided.John Powell requested additional
informational regarding how the money is distributed among the 3 beach orgs, and what percentage is
from the Beach Parking Permit revenue.
