October 28 , 1992
The monthly meeting of the Municipal Green ' s Committee was
had at 5 :00 p.m. , October 28th at Oso Beach Clubhouse with Orval Ponder
presiding. Members attending were : Ray Wanek, Lou Stewart , Bill Hatfield
Raul Trujillo, Bettie Giraudin, and Orval Ponder. Also attending was
Red Taylor and Mike Gordon.
The minutes were approved .
Agenda Item # 3: No progress on the flag pole installations at
Gabe Lozano Golf Center.
Agenda Item # 4 : No progress on work needed around the restroom
area at Gabe Lozano .
Agenda Item # 5 : 100 yard markers were installed and/or painted
on cart paths at Oso Beach. Hazard markers have also been
placed at appropriate places .
Agenda Item # 2 : Staff report. Mike Gordon stated that over seeding
has been started at Gabe Lozano and will be started at
Oso Beach next week. Mike assured the committee that the
flag poles would be erected at Gabe Lozano next week and
100 yard markers would be installed . It was pointed out
to Mike by several members that mowing has not been done
at Gabe Lozano and the course is in pretty bad shape.
It was also pointed out that there are only 7 ball washers
on the entire course.
Agenda Item # 6 - Members S Public Concerns .
Raul Trujillo asked about the cart shortage at Gabe Lozano
He stated that Pam American had a Tri-City Tournament and
20-25 players had to be turned away due to a lack of carts.
Mike has been working on the cart problem. Hopefully by
the time of the Men ' s Turkey Tournament, Nov. 7th, the cart
will be available . And, hopefully the course will be in
better shape.
Lou Stewart expressed concern about the long grass on the
greens at Gabe Lozano. He also inquired as to the status
of the employees at each course after the Phoenix Corp.
takes over. Mike stated that the Phoenix Corp. is talking
to the employees this week and the target date for the take
over is still Dec. 6th.
Orval Ponder read a letter from John Groove which was
written to help clear up a misunderstanding concerning
the tournament scheduling for the Indep. Order of the
SCANNED Forresters. Bill Hatfield asked for a copy of the letter
to take back to the Gulf Coast Golf Assoc. Lou Stewart
made a motion that a copy be given to Bill , motion was
seconded and the motion carried .
With no other business the meeting was adjourned.
There will be no meeting in November.
The next meeting is due to be held December 23rd . I
