Municipal Greens Committee
Minutes
May 25, 1994 1113 1994
Call to Order: The regular monthly meeting of the Greens Committee was held at the Oso
Golf Course on May 25, 1994 at 5:00 p.m.
Members Attending: Chairman Orval Ponder,Vice-Chairman Lou Stewart,Lee Smith,Ray
Wanelc,Ruby Fontana,Bill Hatfield,Robert Rivera, Willie Antonetz,Wally Nielsen,Morris
Powers.
Staff Members Attending: Mike Gordon,Assistant Director for Operations, Scott Roberts,
Greens Supervisor, Red Taylor, Bruce Haddad, Golf Pros, Dan Buder, Assistant Pro.
Many other guests attended the meeting.
Approval of the Minutes: The minutes of the last meeting were read,approved as corrected
and accepted by the Greens Committee.
Discussion: A discussion of Fivesomes playing at Lozano followed with about all hands
participating in the discussion. Chairman Orval Ponder stated he had approximately 100
telephone calls at home from Corpus Christi players saying they were against Fivesomes
playing.
A motion was made by Lou Stewart that a trial program of Fivesomes playing at Lozano
be tried for a period of 120 days from then and be evaluated by The Committee for the
future usage, if any. The motion was passed by 6 voting for the trial period and 2 . •ainct.
A round table discussion of problems at the two municipal courses was held. Lee Smith
wants all littering to be stopped. Ray Wanek was concerned about drinks from outside the
course being brought in. A question was brought up on the new golf carts availability.
Mike Gordon provided a response. Bill Hatfield asked about the flags at Lozano and other
subjects were brought up and discussed.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:05 p.m. by Chairman Orval Ponder.
