MUNICIPAL GREENS COMMITTEE
February 22, 1995
Call To Order: The regular monthly meeting of the Municipal Greens Committee was called
to order at 5:10 pm on February 22, 1995 at the Oso Beach Municipal Golf Course by
Chairman Orval Ponder.
Members Present: Walter Nielson, Orval Ponder, Bob Ibarra, Ruby Fontana, Bill Hatfield,
Lee Smith and Cefe Valenzuela. Representing Willy Antonetz was I.J. Magallar.
Members Absent: Ray Wanek, Morris Powers.
Staff Present: Mike Gordon, Dan Buder, Red Taylor, Jeff Allen and Roy Pickering. Others
in attendance Joe Perez, Oso Marshall and Paul Cortez, Gabe Lozano Marshall.
No action was taken on absent members.
The minutes of the January meeting were approved as submitted.
The Nominating Committee presented Orval Ponder for President, Ruby Fotana for Vice
President and Bob Ibarra for secretary. The floor was opened for additional nominations and
none were submitted. A motion was made and passed to accept the Nominating Committee's
recommendations for officers. Elections will be conducted in the March meeting.
Staff reported on the previous greens committee's concerns and the status of the drainage ditch
improvements at Gabe Lozano. Also reported was the upcoming demolition of the old Julig
house and the new chain link fencing along No. 7 fairway at Oso Beach.
Current Concerns:
Oso Beach - Members requested that red stripes be provided on the cart paths as 100 yard
markers for the ladies, trimming around the irrigation heads on the fairways, improving the
drainage and smells around the drinking fountain at #6, continual wet conditions or a leak in
the chipping area, trimming oleanders around cart paths and the course rest rooms being locked
on February 12th.
Next Meeting: The next meeting will be at Oso Beach Golf Course on March 29, 1995 at 5:00
pm. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 pm by Chairman Ponder.
