SUPERINTENDENTS REPORT:
Ms. Munoz reported on the following items:
1. Oveal Williams Senior Center - We have a tentative date on the
opening, December 2, 1994. The Ribbon Cutting Committee will meet
December 17, 1994 to begin the preparation process.
2. Zavala Senior Center - The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony has been
scheduled for November 29, 1994.
3. We received the Notice of Grant Awards from the Area Agency on
Aging. There were no significant changes other than submitting an
amendment to reduce the number of units in Congregate Meals.
4. Personnel - We have hired a clerk at the Greenwood Senior Center,
Norma Rodriguez. We also transferred a clerk, Diana Villarreal,
from the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program to Oveal Williams
Senior Center.
5. We are in the process of hiring a part-time custodian at Broadmoor
Senior Center and a full-time custodian at Zavala Senior Center.
Ms. Ciminelli addressed her concern for the clerk position at Lindale
Senior Center. Discussion followed. Staff will be looking into getting
a permanent full-time clerk at Lindale.
6. Reduction of paper work and excessive reports - We are looking for
ways to eliminate unnecessary paper work so that the center managers
can devote more time to their participants. Suggestions from the
Committee were: Closing the centers 1 or 2 hours at the end of the
month to work on reports, working 4 hours on Saturday and closing 1
hour early during the week for 4 days. 0. Flores and E. Ciminelli
showed interested in meeting with Ms. Munoz and discussing the
possibilities of reducing paper work and closing the centers to work
on reports.

following:
1. Testing of the Meal Bar Coding is taking place at the Zavala Senior
Center.
2. Our year end to date Program Performance Report for October '93
through September '94 shows that we have served a total of 2,719
clients in our meal program. On the total 60+ clients we served
2,609. We served an additional 1 ,200 meals this year in congregate
which was about 1$ over contract level. Also in the home delivered
we over served 1 ,494 meals which was about 2.5% over contract. We
stayed within our budget due to cost savings from other codes and
the City gave us extra money for those meals.
Question by 0. Flores - Whatever came of that contest? Mrs. Pollakis
reported that Ethel Eyerly was the winner of the recruitment contest for
the month of September. It was based on the percentage of how many new
