JALUFKA HOUSE MEETING ROOM ITEM DISCUSSION ACTION I. Call To Order Teresa Rodriguez, Sister City Committee Program Director called the meeting to order at 12:03 p.m. II. Welcome and Introductions of newly appointed committee members Introduction of New were made. Committee Members Luis Cabrera, Voestalpine Deacon Mark Arnold, Diocese of Corpus Christi Sherron Hines, GCCHA (not present) All members introduced themselves and stated who the re resented / where they worked. IV. Sister City Program Teresa Rodriguez, presented an overview of the Overview Mayor's Sister City Program. She reiterated that the program belongs to the Mayor, under the Parks & Recreation Department, therefore, whatever the Sister City Committee does should always be in tune with the Mayor/Mayor's Office. She will share information with the committee members. She also noted that if / when sub- committees are formed, the sub -committee person in charge is to report to the committee prior to making any decisions. Meeting attendance was also explained and reiterated to the committee. Teresa said one of the committee's goals is to explore activities with other cities / businesses to create relationships. For example, Monterrey would like to bring empresarios and Linz Austria has sent a request to the Mayor to become a Sister City (now that Luis is here representing Voestalpine, we will explore this request.) Teresa stated that the City Council has appointed Ms. Heather Moretzsohn as an Ex -Officio member of the Sister City Committee. Ms. Moretzsohn, who has served in this committee for a number of years, has been very instrumental in the Student Exchange Program and will continue to assist the committee (as immediate past chair). Discussion: Agen, Discussion was held regarding the Agen, France France delegation delegation that is planning to come visit Corpus Christi. Ms. Moretzsohn, who has been in contact with the delegation members, gave a recap of the events scheduled thusfar. She stated there are six (6) confirmed and the dates of arrival. (There is no financial commitment from the city for this delegation.) Their visit will begin with a dinner on the evening of their arrival and a visit the Mayor and tour City Hall the following day. All are invited to the events as scheduled as hosts and chaperones will be needed. Let's all help make this a memorable event for this delegation. VIII.
