January 7, 2020
Members Present: Alice Nixon, Candy Hart, Nicole Carroll, Ida Hobbs, Vickie Natale, Julie Rogers, and Roberta Sewell
Members Absent: None
Staff Present: Laura Garcia, Library Director, Sylvia Sanchez, Secretary
Call to Order: Alice Nixon called the meeting to order at 10:33 a.m.
Approval of Minutes
A motion to approve the minutes as presented was made by Candy Hart and seconded by Ida Hobbs. Motion passed
unanimously.
Friends Report
Roberta Sewell reported that there was no report as the Friends did not meet in December.
Director's Report
Laura Garcia reported that the library is looking at applying for E -Rate funds. The federally funded E -Rate Discount program
can help qualifying public libraries pay up to 90% of the cost associated with high-speed (broadband) Internet services.
Staff is working with the City's IT Department on the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) project.
Old Business
A motion to approve the Annual Report as presented was made by Nicole Carroll and seconded by Julie Rogers. Motion
passed unanimously.
Members reviewed the Board Manual draft and made some changes. It was decided that not all information in the manual
will be placed on the library's website; however, Board Members will have access to the complete manual in print form.
Members discussed the Library Survey draft. Members will email suggested changes to Vickie Natale who will compile and
email the draft to the members.
