CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Cooper called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. A. REQUESTS FOR EXCUSED ABSENCES Alice Aparicio-Bussey, Pastor Derrick Reaves and Elias Valverde requested excused MOTION absences for the current, 04/03/14 monthly meeting. PUBLIC COMMENTS (LIMITED TO 3 MINUTES) The Public Comments was opened with no one coming forward the public comments were closed. 5. PRESENTATIONS - None 6. CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT - None 7. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS a. Housing Subcommittee — Update Commissioner Bussey was not present to provide an update. b. Committee for Persons with Disabilities — 315/14 Meeting Update Committee Chairperson David Ramos gave a brief update regarding the 4/2/14 regular meeting; Presentations and Departmental Reports. c. Education Subcommittee — Update Youth Commissioner Faith Meza provided an update regarding the EEOC Youth @ Work presentation she, Chairperson Kathleen Cooper and Shelley Franco, Human Relations Compliance Officer provided to the seniors of Miller High School. Ms. Meza stated they educated the youth on the different bases of discrimination and educated them as to why it was important for the youth to how discrimination ties to Paae 1 of 3 their civil rights as young employees in the work force. Ms. Meza stated she is hopeful to set another presentation date in the near future. Mrs. Wilson stated Mrs. Franco reported how well Ms. Meza conducted the presentation. d. Disparity Subcommittee — No Report e. 50th Anniversary Subcommittee— No Report 8. HUMAN RELATIONS ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT Mrs. Wilson provided and discussed her March 2014 monthly performance report to Commissioners. Comments/questions ensued between commissioners and Mrs. Wilson. Commissioner Carlos Aginaga requested a presentation from Neighborhood Service Department regarding rehabilitation grant/loan process. Commissioner Merced Pena requested a presentation from the Fair Housing Compliance Officer to discuss/give examples of current cases. (A copy of the report is attached at the end of the minutes) 9.
