Members Present Virtually:, Ida Hobbs, Dora Wilburn Julie Rogers, Vickie Natale, Veronica Towns, Nicole Carroll Absent: Staff Present: Laura Garcia, Library Director; Stephanie Juarez; Patricia Herrera Call to Order: Alice Nixon called the meeting to order at 10:34AM. Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the May minutes was made by Ida Hobbs and seconded by Dora Wilburn. Motion passed unanimously. Friends of the Library Report: Mrs. Hines reported that the Friends are funding drive-in movies at the library but the movies have not yet been shown. The branches are still working out the logistics. Rainy weather and mosquitoes have delayed showings, also. Director's Report: Mrs. Garcia told the Board that on July 1, the City of Corpus Christi started the Emergency Rental Assistance Program for renters who need financial aid for reasons related to COVID-19. Application may be made through the City's website or at La Retama Central Library. The vendor for the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) project met with members of the project team. The vendor will make several site visits to determine the best placement of gates and the self- service units. The RFID tags have been ordered and CCPL expects to receive the tags by late August. The City is looking at the rehabilitation of the La Retama Central Library Building. City funds have been identified that could be used for a master plan for La Retama. Neyland Library will close in August so that their 40 ton HVAC system can be replaced. The Coastal Bend Genealogical Society has approached La Retama Central Library about becoming a Family Search Location. New Business: Julie Rogers was appointed to the vacant position of Vice Chair of the Library Board. The meeting adjourned at 11:00 AM.
