Members Present: Alice Nixon, Sharon Hines, Dora Wilburn, Veronica Towns, Ida Hobbs, Nicole Carroll.
Absent: Vickie Natale, Julie Rogers
Staff Present: Laura Garcia, Library Director
Call to Order: Alice Nixon called the meeting to order at 10:35AM.
Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the August minutes was made by Nicole Carroll and
seconded by Ida Hobbs. The motion passed unanimously.
Friends of the Library Report: Sharron Hines reported that the Friends are working with the Harris
County Jail to get book donations to the jail.
Director's Report:
• September is Food for Fines month at Corpus Christi Public Libraries (CCPL). It is also Library
Card Sign-up month.
• The City Council is finalizing the City's 2021-22 budget at today's Council Meeting. The library is
getting an additional $120,000 for branch maintenance and $250,000 for La Retama Central
Library maintenance and renovation.
• Neyland Library will be closed from September 20 – October 11, 2021 so that a new 40 ton
HVAC system can be installed.
• CCPL staff had some RFID training last week. Training will continue for the next week.
• The Summer Reading Program at all branches was successful. 3,766 children registered for the
program. There were 622 programs given with 19, 549 people in attendance.
• La Retama Central Library and the City's IT staff are still working on becoming a Family Search
Library Affiliate. There will be a genealogy lock-in on October 15 at La Retama Central.
• CCPL continues to work with the Early Bird organization to collect donations of children's books
at each of the branches.

Sharron Hines moved that the absences of Julie Rogers and Vickie Natale be excused. Ida Hobbs
seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:20 AM.
