Members Present: Alice Nixon, Dora Wilburn, Nicole Carroll, Veronica Towns, Ida Hobbs,, Julie Rogers,
Pooja Bindingnavele.
Absent: Sharron Hines, Vickie Natale
Staff Present: Laura Garcia, Library Director
Call to Order: Alice Nixon called the meeting to order at 10:35 AM.
Introduction of New Board Member: Laura Garcia, Library Director, introduced the newest Board
member, Pooja Bindingnavele.
Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the November minutes was made by Nicole Carroll and
seconded by Julie Rogers. The motion passed unanimously.
Friends of the Library Report: Laura Garcia reported that the Friends continue to work on their annual
newsletter. They are also supporting various programs at the library branches. The Friends are helping
to support the Teen Bookfest being held on February 19, 2022. AAUW is hosting an authors' dinner at
La Retama Central Library on February 18 in conjunction with the Teen Bookfest.
Director's Report:
• Hopkins Library closed on December 6 for installation of the fire suppression system and repair
to the HVAC system. They will reopen February 7, 2022. While Hopkins is closed, library staff will
be using a room at the Northwest Senior Center to provide limited library services to the area.
• Branch locations will be drop-off locations for donations of blankets, canned pet food, and
treats for Animal Care Services through December 23.
• The Local History Room at La Retama Central will be dedicated to Murphy Givens in March
2022. CCPL will be working with Jim Moloney and Mary Jo O'Rear on the program.
• The Police Department will be moving out of La Retama Central Library in early 2022. Mrs.
Garcia said that the Local History Archives will be moved into the vacated space.
• RFID project is progressing smoothly.
• CCPL has implemented automatic renewal for items checked out.
• Building maintenance, related to the FY21-22 Budget Initiative Workplan, is on track at each
location.
Old Business
New Business: Alice Nixon, Board Chair, reminded everyone that the Board's Annual Report will be due
at the end of January 2022. The Board will discuss the report again at the January 2022 meeting.
Dora Wilburn moves that the absences of Sharron Hines and Vickie Natale be excused. Ida Hobbs
seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:40 AM.
