Call to Order: Alice Nixon called the meeting to order at 10:33 AM.
Approval of Minutes: A motion to approve the January minutes was made by Vickie Natale and
seconded by Dora Wilburn. The motion passed unanimously.
Friends of the Library Report: Sharron Hines reported the Friends are one of the sponsoring
organizations of the Teen Book Fest By the Bay on February 19, 2022, at the American Bank Center.
Director's Report:
• The Winter 2021-2022 brochure covering activities at CCPL is available.
• Hopkins Library re-opened on February 1, 2022, after being closed for replacement of HVAC and
fire suppression systems.
• The Police Department has moved out of the space it had been using on the second floor of La
Retama Central Library. Mrs. Garcia said that the flooring will be replaced in that area before
moving Archives to the bigger space.
• A student from TAMU-CC is interning at La Retama Central Library as a social worker. He is
currently housed at the reference kiosk.
• La Retama Central Library and McDonald Branch Library will be warming centers for the City
during the cold spell expected in Corpus Christi for February 3 – 6, 2022.
• The freight elevator at La Retama Central Library has been completely refurbished and is in good
working order.
• RFID self-checkout installation will begin on February 15, 2022, at Neyland and McDonald
Branch Libraries. Harte, Garcia, Hopkins, and La Retama Central Libraries should have
equipment installed by the end of the month.
Old Business: The Annual Report was submitted in a timely manner.
New Business: The Library Board agreed to meet at La Retama Central Library in March and start
scheduling Library Board meetings at other branches in April.
Dora Wilburn moved that the absences of Nicole Carroll and Pooja Bindingnavele be excused. Julie
Rogers seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:22 AM.
