Upon request, this information can be available in larger print and/or in electronic format. A. Call To Order Chairperson, Alice Nixon, called the meeting to order at 10:33 a.m. B. Roll Call Chairperson, Alice Nixon, performed roll call. Staff Present: Laura Garcia, Library Director. Present: 7- Sharron Hines, Dora Wilburn,Alice Nixon, Pooja Bindingnavele,Julie Rogers,Vickie C. Natale, and Nicole Carroll Absent: 2- Ida A. Hobbs,and Veronica Towns C. Public Comment No public comment was provided. D. Approval of Minutes and Action on Absences A motion to approve the February minutes was made by Vickie Natale and seconded by Dora Wilburn. The motion passed unanimously. E. Unfinished Business for Discussion and Possible Action Julie Rogers presented the Proclamation for the City to adopt recognizing National Library Week, April 3—9, 2022. Sharron Hines made a motion that Ms. Rogers submit the Proclamation as it is written. Nicole Carroll seconded the motion and motion passed unanimously. F. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action Library Board will meet at Harte Library in April. Ms. Rogers introduced that CCPL is working on procedures for implementing the Voters' Registration Act requirements for City of Corpus Christi Page 1 Printed on 4/8/2022 Library Board Meeting Minutes -Final March 1,2022 public libraries. Mrs. Garcia added that Branch Manager Michelle Balis is writing the procedures for the Implementation Plan which will be submitted to the Texas Secretary of State and includes staff training. G. Committee Liaison Reports Friends of Library report - Sharron Hines reported that the Teen Book Fest was successful with 534 attendees. The Friends are working to replace the sign at Neyland Library which was knocked down recently by a truck. H. Director/Assistant Director Reports Library Director's Report: New RFID security gates have been installed at all the branches. Library staff is being trained on the new procedures that will include the self-checkout system. The Week of the Young Child "Into the Wild" will be celebrated at La Retama Central Library on Saturday, April 9, from Noon to 3:00 PM. CCPL is a United Way Success by 6 Coalition member and is hosting the event in partnership with other coalition members: Corpus Christi Independent School District, Del Mar College, Texas A&M CC, and Driscoll Children's Hospital. The Children's Area at La Retama Central Library will receive new vinyl plank flooring during the first weeks of April. I. Identify Items to be placed on April 5, 2022 agenda J. Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 11:44 AM. This meeting may be held via video conference call pursuant to Texas Government Code § 551.127.
