Upon request, this information can be available in larger print and/or in electronic format. A. Call To Order Chairperson, Alice Nixon, called the meeting to order at 10:33 a.m. B. Roll Call Chairperson, Alice Nixon, performed roll call. Staff Present: Laura Garcia, Library Director; Alan Carlos, Assistant Director for Library Technology Present: 6- Chair Alice Nixon, Dora Wilburn, Sharron Hines,Vice Chair Julie Rogers,Vickie C. Natale, and Veronica Towns Absent: 3- Ida A. Hobbs, Pooia Bindingnavele, and Nicole Carroll C. Public Comment No public comment was provided. D. Approval of Minutes and Action on Absences A motion to approve the March minutes was made by Vickie Natale and seconded by Dora Wilburn. The motion passed unanimously. Veronica Towns requested that her absence from the March meeting be excused. Dora moved to excuse Veronica's absence. Julie Rogers seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. 1. 22-0630 March 1, 2022 Regular Meeting minutes E. Friends Liaison Reports 2. 22-0639 The Friends of the Library Report Sharron Hines reported that the Friends are working with the Nueces County jail to City of Corpus Christi Page 1 Printed on 5/4/2022 Library Board Meeting Minutes -Final April 5,2022 provide donated paperbacks to the inmates. F. Staff Report 3. 22-0640 Technology Report Alan Carlos updated the Library Board on the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) project. The equipment has been installed. Staff are learning the new procedures and are becoming proficient with the new process. G. Directors Report CCPL is represented at the City's Job Fair being held on April 5. CCPL has started a partnership with the AARP job training program. AARP will provide and pay for part-time workers. The Week of the Young Child will be celebrated by the United Way Success by 6 Coalition on Saturday, April 9. The Library is a coalition member and is hosting the "Into the Wild" event at La Retama Central Library from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Padre/Mustang Island Development Plan includes information about having a library presence on Padre Island. Mrs. Garcia said that it could be anything from a pop-up venture to a satellite collection housed in one of the local businesses. CCPL has submitted its annual report to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Mrs. Garcia reported that accreditation should be maintained for the coming year. The book drops at Hopkins and Garcia will be relocated so that the drop is accessible from the driver's side of the vehicle. A new and larger book drop will be installed at Garcia. Harte will be the next location that will be evaluated. H. Unfinished Business; None I. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action Next month on May 3, 2022, the Library Board will meet at the Dr. Clotilde P. Garcia Library, 5930 Brockhampton. J. Future Agenda Items National Voters Registration Act - Library requirements K.
