Upon request, this information can be available in larger print and/or in electronic format. A. Call To Order Vice Chair Meredith Darden called the meeting to order at 5:38 p.m. B. Roll Call Present: 8- Chair Terry A. Palmer,Jyoti Patel, Larisa A. Ford,Vice Chair Meredith Darden, Philippe Tissot, Harrison A. McNeil, Robert Hyatt, and Ruben Macias Excused: 1 - Scott Lawson C. Public Comment No one from the public was in attendance. D. Approval of Minutes and Action on Absences 1. 22-0779 Approval of minutes of the Watershore and Beach Advisory Committee April 7, 2022 regular meeting. The minutes from the April 7, 2022 meeting were distributed for review. Ruben made a comment that he was having audio and visual issue with his Webex connection. Larisa made a motion to accept the minutes as presented, Terry seconded, unanimously approved. Motion passed. E. Committee Reports 2. 22-0787 PRAC Report - Howard Schauer Howard reported that the work has started on the Beach Maintenance Facility as of April 25, 2022. 3. 22-0788 ISAC Report City of Corpus Christi Page 1 Printed on 6/3/2022 Watershore and Beach Advisory Meeting Minutes -Final May 5,2022 Committee Terry reported that there was not much related to this committee but they did talk about extending the TIRZ2 with less to do with the Packery Channel. 4. 22-0789 BMAC Report - Cliff Schlabach Cliff was not able to attend this meeting. F. Staff Reports 5. 22-0790 Staff Liaison Report Darren reported on 2 events happening this weekend, one is a surfing competition and the other is a fund raiser. The lifeguards stands are being prepared along with the bases, the stands will be out for Memorial Day weekend. Permits sales are going ok. The purple flags are out because of jellyfish. The jet skis are out and the guards are doing training on them. About half of the lifeguards needed for the summer have been hired, more are still needed. Darren did report that Beach Rescue has been to every job fair available. Darren did introduce Andrea Gardner, the new Assistant City Manager. G. Unfinished Business H. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action 6. 22-0783 Beach Quiet Time Harrison wanted to talk about this because there is a large group of people that set up at the beach; it's like a concert. They are playing loud music through the night. Harrison got to the beach about 5 in the morning and he said that he could hear the music while he was out in the water. He wonders if there is an ordinance or anything to help prevent this activity. Darren will have a talk with them this weekend. The City does have a noise ordinance, Darren will investigate that. 7. 22-0781 A Presentation: Using Artificial Intelligence for Predicting Environmental Changes by Philippe Tissot Philippe will present this next month. 8. 22-0782 Parks and Recreation SWOT Andrea Gardner did this presentation; Park & Recreation Department Strategic Plan, the draft. They started with the SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threats) analysis and would like this committees' list of strengths and weaknesses with regards to watershore and beaches. Next they will ask for opportunities and threats. This is a long term plan. Darren will email the current draft to all the committee members tomorrow morning. Andrea would like the members to email their list to her, or Darren or Martha before the next meeting. the goal is to get the committees input into the plan.
