communication with sister city counterparts in Mexico, such as working with Sister Cities
International to coordinate dialogue. Mirza Pearson questioned whether the Committee
should work through elected officials towards this effort but it was decided the Committee

2. Student Exchange Program -Almira Flores/ Luis Cabrera/Susane Horn /
Valeria Harbolovic
Luis Cabrera updated the committee that little progress had been made on this item as
of late and recommended the subcommittee get back to meeting more frequently.
Susane Horn mentioned that her conversations with representatives with Yokosuka
included discussion of a virtual student exchange but shared the difficulties of doing
anything live because of the time difference. Luis Cabrera suggested the idea of sending
a teacher to Yokosuka, saying it could spark future interest for the program from teachers
in the community. Susane voiced her support for this idea, saying it would be easier for
an adult to travel to Yokosuka than a student.
Luis also suggested a potential pre-recorded video exchange between local schools that
could be shared between Corpus Christi and Yokosuka. Tammy mentioned reaching out
to the CCISD Communications Director if the committee decided to go in this direction.
3. Cultural Exchange Program - Melody Cooper/Valerie Harbolovic/ Mirza
Pearson
Melody Cooper provided an update on the upcoming Agen trip and outstanding items for
completion and the committee discussed the potential of ordering gifts ahead of future
events. Robert Gonzalez joined the committee to provide guidance and advice for the
Committee's efforts to secure news recognition of the upcoming cultural exchange.

Yokosuka Sea Leg Challenge. The Committee discussed potential locations for
displaying official commemorative portraits for the 60th anniversary of the sister city
relationship between Corpus Christi and Yokosuka. Mirza and Tammy will meet with

at CCIA.
