Upon request, this information can be available in larger print and/or in electronic format. A. Call To Order Alice Nixon called the meeting to order at 10:35 a.m. B. Roll Call Present: 6- Chair Alice Nixon, Dora Wilburn,Vice Chair Julie Rogers,Vickie C. Natale,Veronica Towns, and Nicole Carroll Absent: 2- Sharron Hines, and Pooja Bindingnavele C. Public Comment There was no public comment. D. Approval of Minutes and Action on Absences 1. 22-1131 June 7, 2022 Regular Meeting minutes A motion to approve the June minutes was made by Nicole Carroll and seconded by Vickie Natale. The motion passed unanimously. Alice Nixon and Veronica Towns requested that their absences from the June meeting to be excused. Dora Wilburn moved to excuse the absences. Nicole seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. E. Friends Liaison Report 2. 22-1132 The Friends of the Library Report Mrs. Garcia reported that the Friends are mailing their members a newsletter that will include the Discover Summer Brochure. Directors Report 3. 22®1140 Report From June 6—June 19, 1,047 children registered for the Summer Reading Program. There were 83 programs with approximately 2,000 attendees. Over 10,400 items were checked out from CCPL during this same time period. CCPL also held 22 programs for teens with 300 attendance and 21 programs for adults with 382 attendance. The La Retama Central Library moisture investigation discovered deterioration of the existing sanitary and storm sewer drain lines. The recommendation is to perform a reroute of the underground plumbing. More details will be provided as Engineering Services moves forward with the project. The full rehabilitation of Comanche Street, from Carancahua to Alameda Street, is scheduled to begin in the next few months. Entrance to the La Retama Central parking lot will be rerouted as needed. G. Unfinished Business; None H. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action The next Library Board meeting will be held in the Board Room at La Retama Central Library on August 2, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. 4. 22®1130 Bond 2022 presentation Ratna Pottumuthu, the Assistant Director of Project Management for the Engineering Services Department, briefed Library Board members on the proposed Bond 2022 program draft projects. The Board was excited to hear that La Retama Central Library is a potential bond project. The preliminary renderings prepared by Dykema Architects were also provided. Discussion centered on the landscaping. Some Board members expressed concern over the removal of the Oak trees in front of the library. Mrs. Garcia informed the board that the landscaping will consist of native plants and will take into consideration the birding habitats found in Blucher Park. The goal is to create educational programs that complement the park. I.
