F. Director's Report
Mr. Atwood advised new no fishing signage with slightly amended wording is on order.
An individual presented a proposal to bring a fuel station with a bar and sporting center to
the L head. They would provide staff 6 days a week from 6am-7pm to service tenants,
transients, and hopefully fishing charters. Mr. Atwood spoke with Amy in the City's legal
department regarding an email sent from one of the board members that copied the
entire board. This action could be a violation of the Open Meetings Act because it could
lead to discussion among board members. Aimee will attend the October board meeting
to review the Open Meetings Act. The air conditioner at the Coopers Alley boaters
facility has been out for a month, facility maintenance has an 8 week wait time for parts.
Futures events are Conquer the Coast on September 17th and the USCG Auxiliary class

3. 22®1610 Capital Improvement Projects
Mr. Atwood advised the Corps of Engineers issued a permit for half of what is required
for the pier construction project. On September 9th Urban Engineering said Marine
Fisheries is holding up the permit. Mr. Kelley inquired what the Marine Fisheries
information request timeline is and Mr. Atwood did not know. Engineering has selected a
design firm for the Coopers Alley boater's facility and haul out facility project. Jacobs
Engineering has been selected and approved by City Council for the Peoples Street
boardwalk project. IT has installed indoor WiFi access points in the Lawrence Street,
Peoples Street, and haul out facilities. Outdoor access points are due to be installed by
November if not earlier.
H. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action
4. 22®1609 Bay Dredging Upate
Per Mr. Atwood Chairman Bell approached the Port of Corpus Christi after a catamaran
ran aground during the Navy Day regatta. The Port is aware and in contact with the
dredging contractor about dredge material being dumped outside the designated spoil
area. Mr. Kelley advised a friend covered a 60 acre area in the bay that had white PVC
markers, but they are barely visible. They found that a third of the bay is no longer usable
to racers. Mr. Pendlyshok requested an update from the Port and Mr. Atwood said Dan
Koesema from the Port could possibly attend the November meeting.
5. 22®1612 Marina Staff
Mr. Atwood advised the marina has 2 vacant positions we are working on filling. Once
filled we will have all the staff we are budgeted to support.
6. 22®1613 Trash
Mr. Atwood said we received less debris in the marina during the latest rain event.
Marina staff collected trash using dip nets. A project to put a trash collection system at
the outfalls has been approved and will be maintained by the Storm Water department.
7. 22®1614 Fishing Charters and Boat Tours
Mr. Atwood believes as projects are completed in the marina we will be able to sustain

charter businesses. Mr. Broomfield suggested speaking with the Regional Transit
Authority to bring back a ferry.
8. 22-1615 Tourism in the marina
Mr. Atwood advised once the Peoples Street boardwalk project is complete we will see
more tourists coming down from the seawall. Visit Corpus Christi is working on various
programs for the downtown area to include the marina. Mr. Broomfield believes the
marina qualifies for HOT tax and it should be looked into.
9. 22-1616 Restaurants
Mr. Atwood stated we are not in a position to bring more restaurants down to the t-heads.
We have very limited space and what vacant space we have is dedicated to parking for
marina tenants, restaurant patrons, and the general public. During special events, such
as the Fourth of July fireworks, the t-heads are at maximum capacity.
