Since adding Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, this past Spring, staff has discussed and began researching adding vending machine service. Cost can range from $75,000 and up depending on the number of items the vending machine can hold. Research will include funding sources and location. Self-checkout stations, which were made possible by installing RFID, have had almost 50,000 checkouts since late April. The self-checkout stations in the children's area have the highest checkouts, these stations were paid for by the Friends at an approximate cost of$41,000.
