Marina Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes -Final January 9,2023

A. Call To Order
The January 9, 2023 regular meeting of the Marina Advisory Committee was called to
order at 5:30 p.m.
B. Roll Call
Richard Bell and Don Dunlap were present. Alyssa Mason, Marcus Veazey, and
Robert Kelly were absent.
Present: 4- Vice Chair Charles Pendlyshok, Curt Broomfield,John Wood, and John Murray
Excused: 1 - Marcus Veazey

D. Approval of Minutes and Action on Absences
The minutes for the December 5, 2022 regular meeting were approved.

F. Director's Report
Marina Manager, Jonathan Atwood, advised MAC that the marina software update is
on track to go live on January 16th, and it will include a cloud-based system, and
integrate with the City's payment system Govolution. A remote-control boat regatta is
scheduled for January 20th through 23rd in the south basin of the marina. The
marina office will be closed Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther
King Jr Day.

G. Unfinished Business
3. 23-0122 Capital Improvement Projects
Marina Manager, Jonathan Atwood, provided updates on Capital Improvement
Projects. He advised MAC that we are narrowing in on getting the USACE permit for
the dock project. Mr. Atwood and Urban Engineering are in weekly contact with
Matthew Kimmel with the USACE to keep track of the permit status. The Coopers
Alley boater's facility and haul out facility are still in the design phase but are expected
to go to council by March at the latest. Jacobs Engineering is finishing the 30%
design plan for the Peoples Street Boardwalk. Mr. Atwood stated outdoor Wi-Fi
access points are expected by the end of January.
H. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action
4. 23-0123 Erosion Control Resolution
Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, Kevin Johnson presented MAC with a
joint resolution for a City erosion control plan in conjunction with the Island Strategic
Action Committee, the Watershore and Beach Advisory Committee, and the Parks
and Recreation Advisory Committee. Mr. Johnson explained the joint resolution is to
proactively combat shoreline erosion with an Erosion Response Plan. Parks and
Recreation Advisory Committee chairwoman Alissa Mejia advised they're seeking
support from MAC to present this resolution to City Council. Most MAC members
agreed a show of support for PRAC could benefit the MAC and the City in future
endeavors. John Wood made a motion to sign the joint resolution, John Murray
seconded the motion, the motion passed with only 1 objection by Curt Broomfield.
I. Future Agenda Items
Second vote on the Erosion Control Resolution, Dredging update from Port of Corpus
Christi, and a boat tour of the marina.

The meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.

presiding over this meeting will be physically present at the location of this
meeting unless this meeting is held pursuant to Texas Government Code §
