A. Call To Order
The meeting was called to order at 10:30 am.
B. Roll Call
Present: Julie Rogers, Vickie Natale, Nicole Carroll, Sharron Hines, Alice Hawkins,
Carroll Matthews, Dora Wilburn
Present Virtually: None
Absent: Pooja Bindingnavele, Veronica Towns
C. Public Comment
There was no public comment.
D. Approval of Minutes and Action on Absences
Approval of Minutes and Action on Absences: A motion to approve the January minutes
was made by Nicole Carroll and seconded by Alice Hawkins. The motion passed
unanimously. Alice Hawkins asked that her absence from January be excused. Carroll
Matthews moved that the absence be approved. Nicole Carroll seconded, and the motion
passed unanimously.

E. Friends of CCPL Liaison Report

The newsletter has gone out and Friends have gotten a good response.
A plaque to honor Rev. Michael Howell, who served on the Friends board for 17 years,

is being made. It will be fitting to place the plaque in the La Retama local history
department as he spent many hours there researching those buried at Old Bayview
Cemetery for the library's Old Bayview website.
The Friends board has two new members, Jennifer Anderson and Leona Laird.
F. Director's Report
3. 23-0142 Director's Report
The plumbing re-route project has been completed.
The 50 computers, that are part of the FY23 budget initiative, have been received.
These computers will be distributed to Harte, Hopkins, Garcia and Neyland libraries after
the installation of software and so forth is completed. .
The 8th annual Teen Book Fest by the Bay was held at the American Bank Center on
Saturday February 4th ,740 attended, with 365 visiting the manga section hosted by the
library. The Friends of CCPL support the event by donating $2,500 to cover the venue
and AAUW supported the author dinner. The City is also a sponsor of this event, which is
the only one of its kind in this region.
This year's theme for the United Way Success by 6 Coalition Week of the Young Child
event will be "Once Upon a Time: Fables, Fairy Tales, and Folklore". The event will be
held at La Retama, on Saturday April 15th from noon to three pm. The UW will be
submitting a proclamation request to the mayor's office.
The Social Work intern will be at La Retama on Tuesdays from 10-3, Thursdays 9-3,
and Fridays 1-5. The intern will be here through the spring semester.
A grant proposal is being submitted to the Texas State Library and Archives
Commission (TSLAC). After researching and contacting local agencies that provide
services to children with special needs it was confirmed that there are no free public
venues in the city for children with sensory processing disorders. If awarded the $75,000
Special Grant Project will be used to create a sensory room at La Retama for ages birth
to 14 years.
