Item #2: Review and consider the appeal submitted by Firefighter 11. Adrian
Longoria and Jessica Van Inwagenfor question 4 31 on the Fire Fighter 11
— Engineer promotional examinationadministered on January 10, 2023,
Amelia Allen reads the question being appealed, all possible answers for the question, and the
recornmendation action given by the test creator to deny appeal.
Jessica Van Inwagen emphasized the wording of the question. There are multiple points within the
text that reference the friction loss equation. The question was not specific enough to reference one
primary consideration, when you look at the equation as a whole.
Adrian t,ongoria agreed with Jessica Van Inwagen. Both answers C and D are correct, as the soul-cc
references the first and third points of the friction loss principle and formula. YOU Would need the
volume, length, and diameter to fully consider the friction loss equation.
John DeForest spoke against the appeal, stating the question phrasing is correct. You would
consider GPM flowing and infer from the source what the primary consideration is, and therefore
was specific enough to choose the correct answer.
....................................M.............
Matthew Guillen spoke against the appeal, stating the answer choice is supported by the source so
the candidate should be able to choose the correct answer. The hose and friction loss work
independently from one another and are two different factors in the consideration.
Eyvon Mclianey reads agenda item 43.
Item #3: Review and consider the appeal submitted by Firefighter 11: Kevin Houck
for question 4 40 on the Fire Fighter 11—Engineer promotional
examination administered on January 10, 2023,

recommendation action given by the test creator to deny appeal.
John DeForest spoke against the appeal, stating he agreed with the test maker's response.
Jessica Van Inwagen spoke against the appeal, stating the source says to lower one side of the
stabilizers at a time. You cannot lower all four sides at the same time, supporting the test question
and keyed answer.
Eyvon McHaney reads agenda item 44.
Item 94: Review and consider the appeal submitted by Firefighter 11: Jose Cuellar
for question 4 53 on the Fire Fighter 11 — Engineer promotional

examination administered on January 10, 2023,
Amelia Allen reads the question being appealed, all possible answers for the question, and the
recommendation action given by the test creator to deny appeal.
Albert Guqjardo states the question could have been written better because there are two different
sets of orders in the source — the official orders and the actual on the ground application of them.
The text does not mention either of them as "the Real Standard Orders" like the question states.
John DeForest agreed with Albert Guajardo to recommend throwing out the question. The source
just mentions, actual orders, and the wording of the question did not match the text.
Eyvon McHaney reads agenda item 48.
