A. Call To Order
The meeting was called to order at 10:31 am.
B. Roll Call
Present: Julie Rogers, Vickie Natale, Nicole Carroll, Candace, Hart, Alice Hawkins,
Carroll Matthews, Dora Wilburn
Present Virtually: Pooja Bindingnavele
Absent: Sharron Hines
C. Public Comment
There was no public comment.
D. Approval of Minutes and Action on Absences
A motion to amend the May minutes to show location in La Retama room and correct
the spelling of Vickie Natale was made by Vickie Natale and seconded by Alice
Hawkins. The motion passed unanimously.

E. Friends of CCPL Liaison Report

• The Friends of CCPL had a table at La Retama's summer reading kickoff event and
plan to have one at other summer events.
F. Staff Reports
3. 23-0687 Social Media Policy Discussion
• Social Medial Policy Discussion- Stephanie Juarez, Emerging Technologies
Librarian, presented the Library's social media policy including Facebook and
Instagram as well as the process and schedule of posting.

4. 23-0688 Texas Library Association Conference Report
• Texas Library Association Conference Presentation-Alan Carlos, Assistant Director,
and Stephanie Juarez shared their experiences at the Texas Library Association in
Austin. Seminars attended included technology in libraries, professional apps, and
outreach opportunities.
G. Director's Report
5. 23-0821 Director's Report
The Library will be reporting to Sony Peronel, Assistant to the City Manager, due to
the resignation of Assistant City Manager Nadia Chandler-Hardy.
Due to growing concerns for the safety of Kaffie Middle School students, the Corpus
Christi Independent School District Board approved, on May 22, moving forward with
terminating the joint agreement with the City of Corpus Christi. The Kaffie Middle
School Library has started the process of moving out of the Garcia Public Library.
The Discover CCPL Summer brochure and the Summer Reaching Challenge
booklets contain a message from Mayor Paulette Guajardo encouraging summer
reading.
Update on $75,000 Special Projects grant from the Texas State Library and Archives
Commission. The grant will be used to create a Sensory Room at La Retama Central
for children.
The Library is again participating in the SEAL (Summer Earn and Learn) program.
which is a Texas Workforce Solutions training program for students with disabilities,
ages 16-22.
Library Board recommendation for FY24 Budget. Candace Hart Motioned that the
budget be recommended to City Council as presented. Alice Hawkins seconded, and
the motion passed unanimously.
