City of Corpus Christi Ethics Commission
Regular Meetings-5:30 pm

1. Roll Call.
Dane Fuller, Chair- present
Drue Jones, Vice-Chair- present
Claude Axel - present
David Bendett – excused absence
Ed Bennett – excused absence
Laura Commons - absent
Edward Sample – absent
Kent Teague - present

2. Public comment. (3 minutes max per speaker). Comments must be directly related to a potential item of action
by this commission. Emailed public comments will be provided to Ethics Commission if emailed at least one day
prior to meeting to kentmc@cctexas.com.
No speakers during public comment.
3. Review and approval of minutes of prior meeting(s) and election of officers, if necessary.
September meeting minutes approved as amended.
Drue Jones nominated Dane Fuller as Chairman of the Ethics Commission. Mr. Axel seconded the motion
and unanimous approval. Kent Teague nominated Drue Jones as Vice Chairwoman of the Ethics
Commission. Mr. Axel seconded the Motion and unanimous approval.
4. Excused Absences.
David Bendett was approved for an excused absence today. Ed Bennett was approved for an excused
absence today.
5. Review, discussion and possible action regarding Financial Disclosure Reports.
There was a question regarding whether Mr. Wright, the candidate for Mayor of the City has filed a
Financial Disclosure Report. There was a question regarding whether Councilman Pusley had filed an
Amended Financial Disclosure Report.
The Commission stated that they will discuss the possibility of adding other City or City-affiliated boards,
commissions, authorities to the Ethics Code requiring those members to file an annual financial disclosure
report with the City. This would have to be recommended to City Council for further action.
6. Discussion and possible action regarding forms, policies, rules, ordinances, and laws related to the Ethics
Commission, including requested and potential changes thereto.
Ethics Commission will begin their annual review of the Ethics Code next year.
7. Review, discussion, and possible action regarding outstanding Ethics Complaints.
No new ethics complaints.
8. Executive Sessions pursuant to Texas Government Code § 551.071 and Texas Disciplinary Rules of
Professional Conduct Rule 1.05 to consult with attorneys concerning attorney-client privileged matters.
No executive session today.
9. Identification of items to be placed on the next meeting's agenda.
Chairman Fuller made a suggestion that future meetings be opened with an invocation.
Vice Chairperson Jones suggested that the Ethics Commission Members begin studying the City’s Code of
Ethics in preparation for discussion of any changes to be recommended to City Council. Commission Member
Hauck agreed with this suggestion.
Meeting was adjourned at approximately 6:20 pm.
