Roll Call Present: 9- Chair Meredith Darden, Philippe Tissot, Harrison A. McNeil, Ruben Macias, Philip Blackmar,Armon D.Alex, David Zill, Larisa A. Ford, and Scott Lawson C. Public Comment There was no one from the public that wanted to speak. D. Approval of Minutes and Action on Absences The minutes from the October 5, 2023 were approved; Philippe made the first motion, Ruben second the motion and the minutes were unanimously approved. E. Committee Reports 1. 23-1759 PRAC Report - Howard Schauer Howard was not in attendance. 2. 23-1760 BMAC Report - Cliff Schlabach Cliff was not in attendance. 3. 23-1761 ISAC Report City of Corpus Christi Page 1 Printed on 12/8/2023 Watershore and Beach Advisory Meeting Minutes -Final November 2,2023 Committee There was no report on ISAC. F. Staff Reports The dredging contract should be approved next week and dredging should start shortly after that. All else is going well with Beach Operations. Philip asked about the current situation with lifeguards. Darren let the group know that he currently has only 4 of the 6 senior guards. He said that he would like to have 5 regular guards but only has 3 right now. There was some discussion regarding the dune protection plan, which now needs to get approved through the Commissioner's Court. G. Unfinished Business 4. 23®1599 Sand and Shorelines There was not an update on this item. H. New Business for Discussion and Possible Action 5. 23®1757 Annual Report Meredith has not received the request for this report yet. She did tell the members about the history of doing this report. Martha will email last year's report to the members. This report will recap the goals and action that WBAC accomplished in 2023. 6. 23®1758 Goals Meredith relayed last year's goal to refresh the group, some members were not here at this time last year. Philippe commented that most of the goals from 2023 could be 2024's goals. Darren commented that the Beach Maintenance Plan cannot be done until he gets the permit, could be a couple of years. Last year we had monitor and review progress on the erosion response plan, beach safety, shoreline monitoring, beach maintenance, Park and Recreation's master plan, annual capital improvement budget and other appropriate budgets. Kevin Johnson is no longer with the City so Meredith will reach out to Robert Dodd for an update and possible visit to our December meeting. The committee discussed which of the 2023 goals & objectives they want to keep. The new goals were shared with the group, Larisa made a motion to accept these as WBAC 2024 goals & objectives, Armon second, unanimously approved. I. Future Agenda Items Meredith reminded the committee that next month they will have to pick a new Chair, so the committee will need to have nominations for the position. They group had discussed creating a sub committee to work on appropriate individuals to serve in the select category within the committee. The sub committee will be Meredith, Armon and Larisa.
