• The Friends of Corpus Christi Public Libraries held their annual meeting on October 24
and elected new officers.
•According to Friends president, Sharron Hines resigned from the Friends board.
Sharron was informed that she needed to notify the library to make her resignation from
the Library Board formal.
•A media advisory will be issued for the check presentation to the Friends, for the private
donations they have received for the Sensory Room, dates and times are still be
finalized.
Director's Report:
• Designs for renovations to La Retama Central Library are 30% complete. The bids for
the Neyland renovations were received.
• Library staff met with E-Rate Central staff to discuss applying for Category 2 fund, which
would cover equipment. Under Category I we receive a 90% discount for Internet
service. Category 2 would be 85% discount. Texas State Library is paying for libraries
to receive assistance on filing for E-Rate, which can be a complicated process.
• The Hotspot lending program is ending at the end of December. Staff is looking for
funding to continue the program. Unfortunately, it took several months before the
program gained traction, several positive comments have been received.
• Laura met with CCISD staff, discussed students providing book reviews for our Spring
brochure. Also, discussed CTE students designing the summer cover, and possibly
expanding their Tech2Learn activities to repeat them during the summer at the local
libraries.
