Monday,August 7,2023 12:00 PM Engineering Conference Room -3rd Floor

A. Call To Order
Chairman Melody Cooper called the meeting to order at 12 noon
B. Roll Call
Present: 6- Chair Melody H. Cooper,Adria Vasquez,Vice Chair Luis F. Cabrera,Valerie Harbolovic,
Susane"Westi" Horn,and Mourad Hasbaoui
Excused: 1 - Arthur Wallace
C. Public Comment
D. Approval of Minutes and Action on Absences

E. Committee Reports
Agen committee report: Mayor is considering the Agen trip in May 2024, but told Melody
to check with her after the State of the City luncheon;
Yokosuka committee report: Westie was named new chair of this subcommittee.
Veracruz committee report: Val wasnamed the new chair of this subcommittee.
Keelong & Toledo reports: melody would like to use her contacts to try once again to
reach out to these former sister cities.
Student Exchange report: All went well. Working on a list of things that need to be
addressed for next years event. Suggestions: formal invite from the City to exchange
students; Applications out in December with an early January deadline; Offer hosting

families one 3 day weekend during the visit.
New Committee established - Budget Committee - Mourad named chair of this
committee and Almira, Val and Melody will serve on the committee. Meeting set for next
week to review 2023 and 2024 budget.
Committee asked staff to find out what needs to be done to permanently move the
committee to the 2nd Monday of each month due to conflicts with the 1 st Monday of many
months.
Date for next meeting was set for September 14, 2023.
