HomeMy WebLinkAbout0785 ORD - 11/10/1937441 AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF SOUTH WATER STREET AT ITS POINT OF INTERSECTION WITH COOPER ALLEY, SOUTH TO BAYVIEW STREET, AND BAYVIEW STREET, A STREET IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AND NAMING AND DESIG- NATING THAT PORTION OF SOUTH WATER STREET FROM COOPER ALLEY SOUTH TO BAYVIEW STREET AND BAYVIEW STREET AS "OCEAN DRIVE"; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, South Water Street from its intersection with Cooper Alley, south to Bayview Street and Bayview Street, form one continuous street; and WHEREAS, it is desired by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi to have both streets designated under one name instead of two as now exists; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1: That from and after the passage and approval of this Ordinance, all that certain street in the City of Corpus Christi, heretofore known, named and designated as South Water Street frog} the point where it intersects with Cooper Alley, south to Bayview Street and Bayview Street, shall thereafter be known, named and designated as "Ocean Drive". SECTION 2: That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby expressly repealed. SECTION 3: The fact that South Water Street as it now exists, and Bayview Street as it now exists, and Ocean Drive as it now exists, constitutes one continuous street, further Council and it is better to have all of said streets designated as one street; and the fact that many of the property owners of the City of Corpus Christi, desire residing on Bayview Street and the City that the entire street be known and designated as "Ocean Drive"; and the further fact that the City Council desires to change the name of said streets immediately, creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule providing that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council, and that the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exists, and requests that said Charter Rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, and IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing Ordinance, a public emergency and an imperative public necessity exists for the suspension of the Charter Rule or requirement that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter Rule or requirement and pass this Ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council. LicGee Aye A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO EXECUTE A RIGHT OF WAY DEED TO THE MAGNOLIA PIPE LINE COMPANY, A TEXAS CORPORATION, TO LAY, MAINTAIN, OPERATE, REPLACE, CHANGE AND REMOVE ONE PIPE LINE FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF OIL AND ITS PRODUCTS, ON, OVER AND UNDER THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED STREETS, PROPERTY AND PREMISES: Lying and being situated in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, the said pipe line crosses Nueces Bay Boulevard, 11 feet south of the intersection of the North line of West Broadway with the East line of Nueces Bay Boulevard, thence along the North side of "est Broadway South 67 deg. 06' East 492 feet to a point 9 feet„South of the North line of said West Broadway, thence South 67 deg. and 40' East 444 feet to a point 5 feet South of the North line of said West Broadway, thence South 73 deg. 32' East 363 feet to a point 3 feet South of the North line of said West Broadway, thence South 75 deg. 10' East, 7 feet to the intersection with the North line of said West.Broadway, thence across the property of the Houston Oil Company, to the West line of Port Avenue, thence across Port Avenue and into Wiest Broadway on a bearing of ''outh 48 deg. 30' East 71 feet to a point in West Broadway 13 feet South of its North line, thence South 30 deg. and 0' East 73 feet to a point in the South side of West Broadway, Thence along the South side of West Broadway South 71 deg. East 191 feet and North 88 deg. 32' East 217 feet. Thence South 6 feet to intersect the South line of West Broadway. AND DECLARING AND EMERGENCY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI: SECTION 1: That the Mayor of said City of Corpus Christi be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute a right of way and easement permit to the Magnolia Pipe Line Company, a Texas Corporation, to lay, maintain, operate, replace, change and remove one pipe line for the transportation of oil and its products, on, over and under the streets, property and premises described as follows: Lying and being situated in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, the said pipe line crosses Nueces Bay Boulevard 11 feet South of the intersection of the North line of Vest Broadway with the East line of Nueces Bay Boulevard, thence along the North side of West Broadway South 67 deg. 06' East 492 feet to a point 9 feet South of the North line of said West Broadway, thence South 67 deg. and 40' East 444 feet to a point 5 feet South of the North line of said West Broadway, thence South 74 deg. 32' East 363 feet to a point 3 feet South of the North line of said Jest Broadway, thence ''ouch 75 deg. 10' East, 7 feet to the intersection with the North line of said West Broadway, thence across the property of the Houston Oil Company to the West line of Port Avenue, thence across Port Avenue and into West Broadway, on a bearing of South 48 deg. 30' East 71 feet to a point in West Broadway 13 feet South of its North line, thence South 30 deg. and 0' East 73 fegt to a point in the South side of Best Broadway, Thence along the outh side of west Broadway South 71 deg.
