HomeMy WebLinkAbout033657 RES - 06/10/2025Resolution authorizing the purchase of 40 additional and 35 replacement Harris XL-85M mobile communication radio systems from Dailey and Wells Communications, of San Antonio, Texas, for the Corpus Christi Police Department in the amount of $350,745.00, with FY 2025 funding in the amount of $196,417.20 from the Fleet Equipment Replacement Fund, $116,915.00 from the General Fund and $37,412.80 from the Crime Control and Prevention District Fund. WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Police Department needs to acquire both new and replacement communication systems, which consist of radio units and components, in order to maintain critical operations provided by the department; WHEREAS, State law provides that such procurements, as outlined above, are subject to statutory procurement requirements, including competitive bids, unless an exception applies; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there are three statutory exceptions for this procurement in the Local Government Code: Sections 252.022(a)(2), (a)(7)(A), and (a)(7)(D), as this procurement: (i) is necessary to preserve or protect the public health or safety of the municipality's residents; (ii) is available from only one source due to patents, copyrights, secret processes, or natural monopolies; and (iii) consists of captive replacement parts or components for equipment, respectively. Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas: Section 1. The City Council specifically finds that the foregoing statements included in the preamble of this resolution are true and correct and adopts such findings for all intents and purposes related to the authorization of these procurements. Section 2. The City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to execute all documents necessary to purchase radio communications equipment from Dailey and Wells Communications, Inc., in the amount of $350,745.00, of which FY 2025 funding of $196,417.20 is from the Fleet Equipment Replacement Fund, $116,915.00 from the General Fund, and $37,412.00 is from the Crime Control and Prevention District Fund.
