Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant in the
amount of $4,004,254.53 from the Department of Homeland Security's
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for salaries and benefits
over a three-year period for 15 additional firefighters for the Corpus Christi
Fire Department for our four -person staffing plan.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council authorizes the City Manager or designee to submit a grant
application to the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) for the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER)
grant for a total of $4,004,254.53.
SECTION 2. There is a City cash match for this grant, which is 25% in the first and second
year, and a match of 65% in the third year.
SECTION 3. The City Manager or designee may apply for, accept, reject, alter, or
terminate the grant.
SECTION 4. The City of Corpus Christi designates the Fire Chief as the City's authorized
official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or
terminate the funding on behalf of the applicant agency.
